Going to reserve judgement on when they actually launch. But glad to see BBC Two keeping the current idents, and especially getting rid of the channel of the year text (hopefully).

How are BBC One going to fit the names of the regions and nations on to this idents without it looking like a giant stacked word search? (esp in Yorks and Lincs/NE and Cumbria)

Thanks for posting the video but unfortunately it seems to have been taken down now.
From what little I saw of it, I was left a little cold to be honest. It looks as wrong as the "BREAKFAST" text on the BBC Breakfast titles.

Same here Johnny. I actually think they look awful. The new B B C logo to me looks like it's out of focus.

The split logos look better on the Scotland cap and to an extent Sport where they don't appear as top heavy as with the three letter ONE or TWO. I guess they're scaled so the text is the same size as in the BBC box but can't help thinking they'd look much better in one line, 1997 style - or at least with a logo of their own similar to the six overarching brands.

Don't like the gigantic logo either. The layout might work, if the sizes of the logo and wordmark are the other way round. Alas, since now they want to emphasize the BBC part more, I don't think it'll be amended in this way.
The position of the logo and wordmark is just weird: makes me think of Carlton 1993 ident's top left-hand corner spots. An ident should have a main “centre of focus”, but in these two cases, it's a bit messy. A better approach might be utilizing the master animation: https://mobile.twitter.com/jamesmobbs/st...4436725771 Then the ONE/TWO/FOUR wordmark bump up the logo, and zooms in to the middle square, which acts like a window to the forthcoming animation.

All I can say is wait until relaunch day - I can assure you that things have changed since this video was produced. BBC One idents are live action, not the pink/red gradient seen in the leaked video.
Relaunch day itself is currently being discussed - could be 20th - could be 21st. We haven't got a date set in stone.
