JamesWorldNews was your source solid James?

Yes. Very solid.

Interesting. Do you think this is the big reveal, baed on what you've been told? Surely not?

Using my (admittedly unfinished) model of the NBH newsroom, I've tried to roughly line-up the backdrop (using the accidentally broadcast election version) with the actual newsroom structures to demonstrate the lack of perspective.

For the newsroom hoop to be at that angle from that perspective it would have to be below the level of the camera and just over 3m off the ground. The grey inter-floor section on the far wall is around 0.5-0.7m too high.

Global is lit in its colours thankfully and looks wonderful, but looks like that newsroom shot is there to stay.

I have to say after just criticising the backdrop it doesn’t look too bad for ‘Global’ but the rest of the studio looks great.

Global looks better I think the newsroom background has been tinted so looks a little more integrated but let’s face it it’s just dark the newsroom background :-(

Let’s hope Focus on Africa keeps its bright background

The newsroom shot is as bad as the Newsroom show used when NC are in C. That god awful shot where you'd think the studio was high up on a balcony. Just awful.

For all its flaws, the 2008-13 N6 backdrop was on-brand, was blurred to hide any discrepancies, and didn't look too shoddy for what it was, considering the constraints of a rectangular studio consisting of BARCO projectors.

In my view it's rather disappointing to see them using a fake newsroom backdrop at all, however, if it must be done, it would make more sense to use one that was designed and modelled in 3D software for the studio by a design agency that looks reasonably on point, rather than a really shoddily and poorly edited clip, using a base image still from 8 years ago.

Whilst I don't want to offend anyone here personally, it seems to be that in the modern age, BBC Creative doesn't seem to be capable of producing anything that doesn't look like it was strung together in 5 minutes. Further drives home the need for a full-scale BBC News rebrand, in my opinion.

Yeah it’s a real shame and Live with didn’t even happen almost like they missed the deadlines for revised titles :o

They must have done another global minds survey and viewers must now prefer a live news backdrop.

This looked so good it was only three years ago http:// https://youtu.be/QYos2uDHgaA

FWIW, I actually like the new looks. Whilst I was a fan of the London backdrop, the new look - particularly the use of the catwalk screens and the narrow strip screens - is splendid.

I guess Impact was chosen to “launch” the return of the strands. LWLH will probably air tomorrow.

Well yeah they’ve kept the original colour themes it was programmed with before the pandemic minus the background on the big plasma which Is now the empty newsroom slightly tinted it looks like but as others have remarked it looks wrong and makes studio c looks like it’s on a balcony.

Surely they’ve gone for a newsroom backdrop so that WN and the NC can switch between channels and programming pretty seamlessly? They already share regularly simulcasted hours throughout the week, and increasingly come together for major/international breaking news. I would bet this is intended to bring the two more in line.

I don’t particularly like it, but what can you do.

Chris Cook has said on Instagram that they've been filming around NBH today (Newsroom, lifts, piazza) and that more strands are launching tomorrow.

Focus on Africa escapes the newsroom backdrop Smile

They’ll probably launch LwLH on that day, since only Impact & Global were the two recently launched strands to have aired today.

Just to note that story was put up yesterday so I assume he was meaning the strands that were launched today. Hopefully we will see LIVE return tomorrow and if not next Monday.
