Skyline is a nice background but curious what's next

BBC World News | Studio Refresh - Ittr - 10-09-2021

I really hope they don't permanently replace the skyline with the dodgy semi-fake newsroom backdrop (which IMHO is no better than the old TVCN6 backdrop) as that would remove the little variation and identity the studio's default style has. Not everything needs to be red and white...

BBC World News | Studio Refresh - Ballyboy - 10-09-2021

I don’t see what they could possibly replace it with

BBC World News | Studio Refresh - Universal_r - 10-09-2021

It’s a shame to see the skyline go, IMO it’s the best background used in C it looks great. Unfortunately it looks like it is going to be replaced with a newsroom shot.

Yes, much prefer a fake skyline shot than fake newsroom.

BBC World News | Studio Refresh - Newsroom - 10-09-2021

Pure speculation of course but maybe they've spent time during the overnights recording 'as live' shots of E... which in turn would eradicate those terrible faux newsroom shots. It would certainly make sense with all the simulcasting these days.

BBC World News | Studio Refresh - Joe - 10-09-2021

I’m not against fake or projected newsrooms in themselves (I know some are), but the BBC’s always look so cold. I like the skyline, and it’s a shame if it goes. I always LOVED the first backdrop in the old N6 Barco set, those views. That’s when the set looked best in my opinion. The 2008 fake backdrop really was the worst.

Surely not the backdrop STILL in use on the Andrew Marr news insert! I mean how the hell someone hasn't changed that is beyond me!

Or...................perhaps it means the relaunch of The Briefing, Live, WorkLife, Impact and Global?

And, in between, we’ll have the new newsroom backdrop for the regular hours.

Did I just say all that? ??‍♂️

This is the backdrop I preferred to the 2008 newsroom backdrop:

It quite cleverly hid the gaps in the BARCOs too which the newsroom backdrop didn’t quite manage.

I'm getting flashbacks.

To be honest, i think that it is a good choice that they give a refresh to the backgrounds used. In the first few days at NBH, they had a few interesting choices:

1) Pictures of the top stories at the TOTH on Studio B. Kind of Al Jazeera style: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_bcdhKYKWMk

2) The globe as a background on studio C (which at the time, they used another animation with the placenames unlike today) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WDT6dL-wEcQ&t=108s

3) Also with Nelson Mandela´s death, they used a special background https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BeAvxWnhjyQ

It´s a pity that they didn´t try to experiment a little bit more with the screens on all these years since then.

BBC World News | Studio Refresh - harshy - 11-09-2021

Thats a shame to lose the skyline background, its easily the best looking one and makes Studio E look nice and bright and airy, but the bbc do seem to make better design decisions regarding BBC World News, so we may not be disappointed.
