There's an end screen but no editor's name, just the the BP website link, copyright info and the new logo.

For me the strongest look was the bubble ship around 2000 with Konnie, Simon, Matt and Liz - and indeed probably the last truly great era of the show.

It raises a question, a lot of sets use bare studio walls these days, I feel like a lit coloured curtain would help this set a little.

Bare studio walls though is somewhat of a Blue Peter tradition though - more often than not they'd had spaces within a studio rather than a fully enclosed set.

Funny how what is old becomes new again - very reminiscent of the 90s theme.

It appears CBBC have reuploaded someone else's video showcasing the title sequences through the years and flagged it as their own (albeit editing the end sequence to have the new titles).

First they copy [mention]DeMarkay[/mention]'s graphics and now plastering their BBC iPlayer watermarks over someone else's video. Dear me.

The BBC own the copyright though, so fair enough.

I had to turn my volume up to hear the new theme, then I realised that it *was* the new theme.

It did need a refresh after the last one was used for the best part of 10 years, but by the sounds of it they mightn’t have bothered.

BP isn’t the mecca it once was, but is an important show for children to get involved with and is still seen so by many institutions which is why they allow the presenters to do things no other TV show would be allowed to do.

Like the new titles, but wish the logo didn’t look like that. Theme wise, I like it, but the start isn’t triumphant enough. There’s no oomph to it.

With Banks and Wag’s version, you had the signature note at the beginning, before transcending into an upbeat dance/pop composition.

It does sound like an coming up/underscore bed, as others have said.

It's certainly been a while since the theme/titles have been refreshed. Overall I like the new titles, but the logo feels a bit too cartoony, a bit like the Beano logo. The studio doesn't look that much different though from the clips I've seen.
The new version of the theme though is forgettable and weak and doesn't have that energy as others have said and it almost feels like the titles were designed for a different version of theme in mind.

Below is my attempt at matching it up with other remixes of the theme that I found online. The first is a mashup of the 2007 and 2011 themes which clearly drew on the Mike Oldfield arrangement, and the 2nd set of titles is slightly slowed down and features an unknown remix that I discovered somewhere and saved on my computer, but have no idea who did it originally, so if it was someone on here, then I apologise for nicking it, but it equally works as well I think.

My Mum Tracy Beaker attracted almost 500K viewers on the first episode alone although a quarter of the viewers probably where out of the channel's demographic just watching for nostalgia.

To be fair that ended up being one of the most watched programmes of all time. Blue Peter airs 52 weeks a year and unless it’s a very big episodes it’s never going to match that.

Hmmm. I quite like the visuals, sums up what the show is all about (though set your stopwatches now for how long before they get abandoned for a coming up sequence). The theme…well, I grew up with the Yes/No People and that was barely Barnacle Bill, but this is only slightly behind. Maybe a grower!

Definitely overdue a refresh, that theme has been in use for ten years so is easily the third longest in the show’s history (though on screen far less due to BP only being weekly for most of the time it has been in use). The logo itself dates back to 2008 (so second longest after the 1985-99 signature logo!) and the bad old days of the late noughties in TC2 so it has survived well. They are both older than most of the audience. Bit of a bold claim to say they’ve got a new set, it’s another riff on the same thing they’ve had throughout Salford, much like CBBC pres has done over the same period of time.

I also noticed the hacked up and rebadged YouTube titles video, not big or clever. Amusingly the 1989 titles are taken from a special video compilation made by an independent production company and never shown on tv (look carefully at the weird set at the end).

That was a very strange little turn of events. They never should have just lifted that video and claimed it as their own - if they were going to do a 'Titles Evolution' they could have quite easily made a better version, even by just quickly lifting clips online. With a bit of thought, they could have made a brilliant version utilising their archive. And even if they were just going to lift that video they could at least have tried to match the style with their additions at the end rather than just plopping on some text in Times New Roman, which just highlighted the fact that the full video wasn't made by the same person/s.

And now they've deleted it, which is the right thing to do, but I'm surprised the original hasn't subsequently been flagged for copyright since - really - it is using BBC property and you'd think it would have been flagged as a result of the BBC blatantly noticing its existence since they ripped it off as their own and subsequently deleted it when they probably got some flack for it.

All very peculiar.

This is another programme which should have ended years ago, caught the end of it a few months ago and barely recognised it. The presenters all seem to have had a charisma bypass, no wonder the viewing figures are so low
