ITN Nostalgia

I think the programme had only relaunched on Monday 9th November, so this example is potentially from the first week. Alastair Stewart features quite prominently live in Downing Street.

This edition came after the initial launch when there was a live newsroom pan rather than sweep of the newsroom from the atrium.

This was the live or as live’ version.

After the newsroom sweep they moved it down to the basement while the newsroom studio was overhauled.

Great find, itsrobert. That can't have been at all long before Al left for LNN - possibly a matter of days?

On another note, a Trevor McDonald-hosted bulletin from Boxing Day 1987... with Mark Austin on sport news!

Thought this would fit better here rather than the ITV News thread. Anyway, I found a clip of one of these programmes, and look who pops up as a reporter at 2:14 - none other than Katy Haswell!

And if you need reminding who she is:

Incidentally, Katy now presents the Arianespace rocket launches, and has a cult following among space enthusiasts. (She has something of a... unique turn of phrase, shall we say...)

They look like Mocks. There is definitely no itv World News.
Check out this nugget. It's a edition of the Channel 4 News at Noon which due to flooding came from the Newsroom. Absolutely stunning use of the Atrium right throughout the bulletin. (not sure if the original titles used the atrium of not, have looked at a few clips and it doesn't appear so)

And this extra long closer where by the look of Jon Snow's face, he appears to have closed the programme a little too early. Big Grin

A URL with "logosfake" in the name is fake, whod've believed it?

For a fake it looked very real it has to be said
How long was it before the extra drums were added to the revamped News at Ten theme in 1992? They had them in 1993 going by YouTube.

The remixed opening theme with a softer drum roll start and extra drums before the first bong was first used in January 1993.

No, the Channel 4 News at Noon traditionally didn't use atrium at all. Studio shots were normally the thing.

It has to be said that for what was an impromtu setup because they couldn't use the studio, it looked damn good on screen. I do miss both the News at Noon and the More 4 News.
Blimey! 2mins into this clip. I was never a fan of the visuals of this era, but having now rediscovered this music, what a masterpiece it was!
