And it is what they miss - something occuring live which may just go terribly wrong. I think it's right for most of the big events to take up in the lead up - though ideally in the same week as weeks earlier they just become disconnected.

This sort of thing would be perfect just to lift the live show somewhat, though of course Owain is still basically a regional weather forecaster who went viral for a few hours 18 months ago and occassionally steps in to do the weather on Breakfast - so the fact this has raised £2m is amazing.

I see that the BBC Scotland channel are doing a one-hour live programme at 10pm on Friday night - presumably to make good use of setting up a studio for the network inserts.

It doesn't sound amazing content-wise, but good for them if it raises a few more quid:

There is comedy from Scot Squad’s favourite traffic cops McKirdy and Singh, Judy Murray attempts to find her 'other' son Duncan’s special skill, and Des Clarke invites some special guest comedians to help him out with a special Children in Need version of Breaking the News, plus music from former postman Nathan 'Wellerman' Evans and acclaimed Scottish singer-songwriter Amy Macdonald.

I suspect not and really I don't see why it would. Children in Need lasts for longer than just one night, it's now starting on TV more than a week before. Why do they need to do a live programme after 10:30 when audiences are low?

It's perhaps also worth noting that traditionally around 10pm there would be a changeover of studio audience. The same may also have been the case for the crew. Given Covid safety precautions I doubt a changeover of audience would be possible. Similarly if crew swapped then presumably equipment might need to be sanitised etc, as well as availability if someone needed to self isolate at short notice.

Happy 10th anniversary to the Pudsey Bear animations they have been using non-stop since 2011!
They are getting as old as ITV's England World Cup opening animation (used since 2008)
I also liked the introduction sequence
