Love Island 2021

I would love (no pun intended!) to know who on earth keeps deciding they need to retain the Prisoner's Dilema at the end!

It's £50,000, maybe more interesting if £500,000 - but the contestants aren't stupid, they're going to be making many times more than £50,000 with brand deals and the like after the show anyway!

Has anyone ever taken the cash?

It would allow Laura to avoid travelling back and forth constantly as a mother and stay in Spain permanently for the series duration, and Aftersun could then act as a way of bringing in new talent and giving them a springboard (I’d personally give it to Arielle who currently hosts the podcasts).
Yeah I think one of the issues this year is that because Laura had only been into the villa 3 times before the final (including on Day 1), she didn't have as much of a connection with the islanders as Caroline did when she was going in 8-10 times a series. Basing her, the baby and Iain (instead of keeping him in London) out in Majorca for the entire series next year would be the best option

Arielle Free hosting Aftersun would be a great idea, and she and Laura could always present final episode together if the producers wanted.

The production team also could really do with refreshing the format next year slightly - Casa Amor was about a week too late, and the final fortnight (outside of Faye's screaming matches and the Jake/Liberty stuff) was quite boring. And also everyone had already called who were gonna be in the final at least 10 days ago.

One more thing - they need to stop doing public votes and then letting the islanders choose who to dump/save from the bottom 2/3 couples. It renders the vote useless

I thought originally it may have been Laura & Iain’s decision to remain in the UK this summer. As Iain has always been out there to record his voice overs, but going off some comments Laura made on her Instagram stories, she was required in London every Sunday so there was no choice for her to stay in Spain.

Much to my own self-disappointment I've watched Love Island again this year despite it being a bit stale compared to normal. Not sure why they didn't base Laura and Iain out in Majorca for the whole series, would surely have been easier and she could have been there more.

The format is becoming a bit formulaic though, it's more of a waiting game to see when Casa Amor, baby challenge, etc. will happen. I really like the idea of maybe a week in introducing a second villa who then come together after a week or so.

Well… Covid. They kept as many people in London as possible and limited Laura’s appearances because of Covid. Even the gallery was in London this year.
