Love Island 2021
#1
ITV2 have started to release teasers featuring Laura Whitmore and Iain Stirling on social media ahead of the new series of Love Island; which is set to launch on the 28th of June.

If Aftersun does go ahead this year, then I suspect ITV will have draft a second person in (maybe Maya Jama perhaps) to do any UK based studio segments where they usual anchor Aftersun from - I think it's usually one of Stages 7, 8 or 9 at Elstree Studios - given it's been reported that Laura, Iain and their baby will all be based out in Majorca for the entire series, to prevent any last-minute COVID travel restrictions being an issue - as previously, Caroline would be flying back and forth between the UK and Majorca for the entire series

Personally, I think this is a show that’s run it’s course.

Have I missed the official confirmation of 28th June being the start date? I expected them to wait till the Euros was done...

It's been confirmed to the Independent, and I suspect that it will be once be officially announced when we finally get a full trailer

I'm shocked it's going ahead. Watching a load of strangers cavorting in the sunshine when both my love life and the prospect of a holiday are both on hold is the the last thing I want to do.

I don't think you are their target demographic.

Aftersun will be returning for this series too, but it is unlikely to be coming from Elstree..

As the proud owner of a brain, I am aware.

I think they’ll find another host, it always seemed weird to me to have the main show host present a spin-off as well. As someone suggested above it’ll probably be Maya Jama, but a previous star like Wes Nelson or somebody could do it as well.

Maya Jama is fronting shows throughout the Euros so you can rule her out.

Vick Hope could possibly present Aftersun?

Yeah, I was going to say Vick Hope deserves a shot.

Would anyone want it on their CV given the toxic connotations and the history of suicides associated with the programme?

The suicides were not directly associated with the programme and it is comments like that which are the real toxic connotations.

For most young jobbing presenters working on one of the biggest reality shows around would be a no-brainer.

Unlike Jeremy Kyle, aftershow duty of care was the problem not really the show itself.
