Moving on from the studio debate given how the show hasn't moved their end of week presenters up to the beginning of the week in recent years when they've left it kind of feels now that Dan and Louise have both gone, and as good as Jon Kay and Sally may be, that the A-team is now tucked away at the end of the week.

While it was mentioned on here a while back that Charlie was "happy" working the Thursday-Saturday shift and Naga had her radio commitments in the first half of the week, I do find it strange that at the time of writing, the senior/longer-serving personnel on the sofa - and I include Mike Bushell in this - are all at the back end of the week, because if you look at other news programmes across all channels, the "primary" presenter in a particular slot is always at the front end of the week and invariably doesn't work Fridays unless in exceptional circumstances.  Maybe I think it's time that they moved Charlie and Naga to the front end of the week, whether they like it or not  .

Makes no real difference to ratings so why would they cheese off their presenters?

Slight difference is that the other channels tend to look at four days - so Monday to Thursday makes sense - that shift has four working days, the other has just one. Having Monday to Wednesday and Thursday to Saturday as the splits at least means that the second one includes two weekdays.

Sounds like a rather complicated lot of reshuffling if sport is also moving, at least temporarily (assuming not permanently).

Doesn't it have barriers around the windows during live broadcasts from Studio V?  From what I have noticed whenever watching the One Show of late, they seem to have moved to obscuring the view to a large extent.  You can just about make out the old part of BH in the background.

Either real or 'fake' views don't really do anything for me. They don't really add anything. I like the wide (day/night) views of the London skyline in Studio C, and also the Thames view on GMB, but they are really just part of the design rather than an attempt to relay reality.

Other than that, I'm not a fan of unnecessary 'real' views.  If I buy a pack of sausages from Sainsbury's, I wouldn't expected to be confronted with a depiction of an abbatoir.  

I want to watch the finished broadcast product, produced in a slick and professional manner. I don't need to know how they created it, and I doubt Joe Public does either.

So what do you want in the background. There has to be something! It’s always either been a real view of a newsroom, a fake view of a newsroom, a real view of outside or a fake view of outside - or just a plain coloured backdrop if you go back far enough.

There was also, of course, the decidedly random backdrop of the British Airways headquarters from the Kaplinksy/Murnaghan era, and the glass bricks from the Eastern European dentist’s waiting room set.

If they had the space, it’d be nice to have a flexible set with both a window position for bright, fine mornings and an alternative position for when it’s dark outside or pouring down, rather like their neighbours, Granada Reports, have.

Blimey. I'm not sure the purpose of a view, real or not, is to show you how something is made. You know when you're offered a choice in a hotel of 'sea view'? It's not to inform the review you later write up about how it all works – it's literally just for you to enjoy.

Could someone explain why this was chosen as a backdrop? It still baffles me to this day. Although the red touches were quite decent-ish and of the time.

The image with Jon Kay alongside Sally, Naga and Charlie as seen on the NTA website has now been added as BBC Breakfast’s Twitter cover image. An oddly soft announcement or is he the official relief anchor until a replacement (almost certainly him, surely) is revealed?

I presume they wanted a generic businessy backdrop and thought the BA HQ looked the part. It probably would have been better to have had a mockup design created though. Unless I’ve dreamt it, I’m sure there was one morning when Declan Curry did his business news live from the actual BA building which seemed quite odd.

A shared studio in that space is not a bad idea and, coincidentally, something I was thinking about earlier. There's no editions of Sport Today at that time of the day, so there's no clash. Also would make much more sense than the moving to a temporary set arrangement that was inferred earlier - as poor as the current Breakfast set-up is, I doubt they'd have a national news programme broadcast from a temporary set (a la Spotlight c2015) for months on end.
