Yes, the only way anyone would have known is if they'd have visited those countries and watched TV.

Not that the lack of chance of being caught justifies their use of course

Hadn't heard of that. I know Prime in NZ had presentation similar to Prime in Australia at launch in 1998 and from 2002-2006 Prime NZ's presentation was virtually identical to Nine in AU due to an agreement between Prime and Nine's parent company. This ended when Prime was purchased by Sky in 2006

I'd prefer not to link to them directly as they aren't my images, but the similarities between Prime and Nine can be seen here:

If you're going to rip off the logo anyway, why bother making a poor copy of the ident?

Probably couldn't get hold of a broadcast quality version of any of the 1982 Channel 4 idents.

Probably so when they do get caught they can argue it is not the same and people couldn't possibly confuse the two.

Thought this 2004 TVNZ2 ident (at 0:06)

looked kind of similar to a BBC Two Window ident, especially on the highway light streaks, reflective objects and the 2 symbol:

Now on TVTalk, Pres Café and DeviantArt. Goodbye to all that, TVLF.

Good spot that. I think BBC Two's is a lot nicer, side by side!
