I meant Huw has been presenting for two decades. The format has been the same for three decades.

If I’m pedantic about it, Huw has presented BBC News regularly since 1999, and on and off since 1993, so I count that as 4 decades - 90s, 00s, 10s and the 20s

I would not have bothered with the second floor.  Just had the main wall a little higher.  Also I would have paid the extra for the rig to have the cameras from the ceiling.

It looks like the upper walls contain vents and equipment, so maybe having access to this space is functional, and not just for the aesthetic.

Was a bit confused reading a few of the posts saying about the regions having to rejig their running orders because the national weather has moved into the Ten.

The late Look North from Hull ends normally with Peter saying goodbye after the local weather so I never knew it was any different elsewhere.

South Today used to go directly from regional weather into national weather (which obviously wouldn't work now), but after a recent low-key revamp, the weather presenter always throws back to the newsreader for a proper outro.

It’s definitely better than the last studio, and the one before that too, but it does feel a bit sterile to me, probably because the live newsroom has been replaced with a screen.

I do like it, but it does feel a little off, it also seems to be lit a bit weird, slightly too harshly to my eye

I think news channels should always have a newsroom view, as it gives a feel of breaking news coming in (the worst news channel look by far was when they were in that barco box at TVC) but it’s not necessary on the network bulletins.

It’ll take a while to get used to though, it did feel like it was election night, rather than just a normal Monday night’s Ten

Look North felt much shorter now they are no longer integrating the local and national weather into the one forecast

Regarding the regions throw videowall, they can just swap out two boxes with BBC News logos or a BBC News URL, although it’ll make it very clear they’ve axed two sub regions when they do.

I doubt that feature will last that long anyway - it's something they're doing at the moment because they can, but I doubt it'll last the summer as ultimately it adds nothing.

They were trialling a few different things across the country - some regions doing a local and national forecast, some having the local forecast throw to a national forecast etc.

I'm just surprised it took this long to integrate the weather into the main programme considering how long it has been integrated into the others (possibly since 1999?) though it now means Newsnight starts before the 10 finishes - although it's always been close.

I thought it was quite brave of Huw to present the entire bulletin without a back-up script (the standing parts anyway), what happens if the autocue fails?
Huw is professional and experienced enough to ad-lib but not every presenter is capable of that.

I can't help thinking that there are some shots that are grainy while watching on BBC One SD earlier. I'm not sure if some of the elements are augmented reality or not, but the white element with "BBC NEWS" on it was really grainy.

No the surprise that the Wales Today weather bulletin is now Wales only (like any other one during the day) with the oldstyle of zooming out to show the rest of the UK and Ireland and subsuqently not showing the national report afterwards has now gone.

The One Show piece with Huw and Alex Jones was probably the best explainer of the new set I've watched all day. I find it hard to believe some of the elements of the set are actually real, but they're clearly are now I've been able to watch in HD.
