All of this shows how desperate Norwich needs a refit as well as a new desk. The West opt bulletins are like riding in a Ferrari compared to Norwich's Rover 800.

I think a move to a new building/full refit at The Forum would be more beneficial. The Norwich newsroom has seen better days, the set and cameras are completely past it and the gallery, well, ancient tech comes to mind.

Leave the forum? Surely they can upgrade easily rather than move completely?!

I would have thought Norwich is due an upgrade to their kit with the HD upgrade?

Dan Holley with the Look East Breakfast weather. Presumably pre-recorded yesterday.

Usually it's pre-recorded and uses the same person who does the weather forecast for BBC London, as sometimes in the mornings the TVs been on the news channel and I've switched it back to BBC1. Maybe Dan was covering other regional weather forecasts this morning.

I noticed the pre-7am bulletin this morning was presented by Louise Priest, however the 7.30am bulletin was presented by Alex Dunlop (hopefully I've spelt their names right). I'm guessing Alex must have been providing emergency cover for at least that bulletin, as I don't recall normally seeing him during Breakfast. If so hopefully Louise is okay (unless I imagined seeing her presenting at 7am).

Upgrading while still being on air is more complex and usually takes longer than equipping a new facility, for obvious reasons !

However, the latter has the extra time and expense of all the civil engineering to get a building (or build it from scratch)ready for technical fit out.

BBC Plymouth were due to have had a new facility at Sutton Harbour, but in the end they upgraded the existing site at Mannamead

With the current BBC News logo no doubt. Nothing like being one rebrand behind. Wink

I assume most people on this thread have heard the news that Look East West (broadcast from Cambridge) will be ending and instead be merged into the Norwich broadcast. Considering the Cambridge broadcast is the one I watch on TV, I think merging them will just be terrible. Not least because important news for our area that would be on the Cambridge broadcast could be pushed out by the Norwich broadcast.

Agree - we live just on the “edge” of Look East (West), so much so freesat postcode tunes us to London, so I’ve used a postcode of the certain town 3miles
Away over in the Bedfordshire border. Since watching I have felt more covered by local news where they are talking about things that happen in the county I live in, rather than hearing what’s happening in London for every report.
I’d suspect eventually getting Look East (East) I’ll be hearing more about Norfolk and that area

Question; how far is it between Northampton and Norwich, given that news for the former will come from the latter?

I seem to recall back in the day, Northampton used to come under the "Midlands" broadcasting umbrella and in rugby, Leicester (Tigers) v Northampton (Saints) is always billed as "an East Midlands derby".

The advantage the Look East (West) region will have over Oxford closing is that ITV Anglia will continue to provide a split bulletin for the sub-region after Look East merges with the current East sub-region.

Viewers in the current South Today Oxford sub-region will have to share an ITV sub-region that is much larger, stretching from the Cotswolds to Winchester, then lumped into the same issues that South Today will have covering a huge editorial area that has no affinity to the core Solent area when it opts back in.
