Looks like someone's found the circle wipe effect.

Helen Ford presenting. As for the circle wipe effect. It’s not bad actually

Tyne Tees currently doing a special programme specifically about climate change/climate action week, presented by Ian Payne live from a wind turbine place in Blyth. Are the other regions doing something similar?
EDIT 18:21 -- He's just handed over to Helen Carnell (incorrectly introducing her as Hannah) in the studio for the 'other news'.

Don't want to delve into rota talk too much, but I've not seen Tim Backshall on Tyne Tees for years. He's just presented the lunchtime bulletin and will be doing the 6PM programme.

![]() With the press conference happening now, TT&B started the programme using a generic background (presumably both regions recieving the same broadcast) - this is just quick snap I took. Haven't seen this since the first lockdown, although looks like a different background to the one used then, which had a large "on air" sign in the middle. After a report by Kris Jepson, they reverted to the standard Tyne Tees background.

The title sequence, headlines, and post-headlines sting were Border specific, with the Carlisle studio backdrop. None of the headlines mentioned the Tory shindig controversy etc. There was a bit of a pregnant pause, lingering on the end of the post-headlines sting before mixing back to the studio with the CGI gallery/newsroom backdrop now behind the presenters. The live pan-regional stuff mainly consisted of a throw to a correspondent OB outside 10 Downing Street. The full regional split re-commenced at 18:03, with the Carlise backdrop now back in place. I'm sure that all of those ITV regions which have pre-recorded sub-regions will have done something similar this evening.

Katie Cole doing the late news. Does she normally do the Friday late news bulletin?

I don’t think it’s set as one person each week, however even back to when Pam was co-presenter, I think it was perhaps “rota” that the weekend presenter would do the Friday late news and I *think* it was also fairly common for Rachel Sweeny (GMB presenter) to host the Friday lunchtime bulletin. Then Pam and Ian would just host at 6pm.

This evening's ITV News Lookaround and ITV News Tyne Tees are both marking the 1,900th anniversary of Hadrian's Wall.
Amy Lea is flying solo in the Gateshead studio, with the day's news and sport for each region all crammed into the first 17 minutes or so of the programme. I've no idea which region is live/recorded. The latter part of the programme is live pan-regionally, with Ian Payne on location at Housesteads Roman Fort. A short sting punctuated the end of the split part of the programme, followed by a brief studio link with Amy throwing to Ian (with the GCI gallery studio backdrop).

The vox pop at Wallsend Metro has to be one of the best ones so far this year. Unfortunately, they crashed into ITN while Ian was still mid-sentence, also some problems coming out of a live, showing Ian in a conversation with Ross Hutchinson, and with Amy appearing on the side briefly. EDIT: Here's the vox pop I mentioned https://youtu.be/5VDr9FijyaY Seems they made a sneaky edit for the VOD cutting out the issue after a live.

Interesting use of the background screens to introduce a story on the Kyiv ballet tonight. Not seen anything like this before.
