I never cease to be amazed at watching the 'fish fingers' title sequence. It was remarkable for its time, and it was many years before I realised how they'd done the subtle change between studio and the other background in the CGI titles.

It looks fairly straight forward to me, isn't it just a chromakey, that dissolves into black? The title sequence starts as a completely blue screen which the studio is keyed onto.. The blue changes to black before the 'fish fingers' reach the newsreaders heads.

Yes, now I understand how it was done. However, 37 years ago it looked like 'magic', and it was only ever seen for a matter of seconds.  My youthful ignorance left me in awe at the time.
