Well the American Song Contest wrapped up on NBC. The ratings werent that good. It was a fairly decent production. The songs werent that bad and many couldnt see how one country could show a diversity of music and I wasnt surprised at all. As there was a great range of genres. Especially considering the immigration and the outer territories bought and wide flavour of songs. But just like Eurovision there were many straightforward pop songs.
Regarding the vote tally. They indeed borrowed from Eurovison to present the jury votes. ANd just like I imagined they didnt go to 56 states and territories. Instead they opted to group the Jury votes into regions and they had eliminated contestants from each region present the 12 points cast by the jury. It was a smart move because its a truncated process. It could potentially be a long drawn out process if they did each state. I dont think the eliminated contestants were actually back in the home states though. THey just had them stand infront of an appropriate background.
The trophy was a replica of the Eurovision trophy, except the microphone part was gold and the base and stem was frosted instead of clear.
NBC is due to air Eurovision again on Peacock, but the exception this year is that its behind the premium paywall. No thanks. VPNs are great.

Canada is due to join the actual Eurovision mothership like Australia next year. But they will host Eurovision Canada in the lead up to the main competition. Apparently producers of American Song Contest will be involved as well as the producer of Big Brother Canada, Insight productions.
