Further to this, I'd love it if, one weekend when Anne Diamond is away, Mark fills in alongside Stephen. They worked really well together when they did Sky News Today in 2005/2006 - perhaps too well, as often they were a bit silly - but they clearly got on well, and I'd like to think that chemistry might carry on on GBN.

They just need Miss Buckley back!  Big Grin

Just as long as there's no breaking news on Harold Pinter
For all the talk on here about how GB News has changed, a clip has gone viral where they have John Hammond on to discuss the weather/climate only to then start calling him and meteorologists ‘harbingers of doom’ and ‘fatalistic’ and saying ‘we should feel good about the weather’ when he warns that the weather at the start of this week may be dangerous.
I’d assumed before watching it’s be somebody like Neil Oliver but it was some presenter I’d never heard of before (who I now see has tweeted about ‘the extreme pussyfication of a previously brave nation’ so sounds delightful).

Also while it’s up to GB News to decide what to do and it might appease people here I’m not sure trying to recreate the Sky News line-up of about a decade or so back is the genius move some seem to think it is (especially for a channel saying how ‘different’ it is to others). It’s not like Sky News was particularly outstanding ratings wise around then. I do wonder too what some of those ex-Sky presenters must think about having to share the channel as the likes of Neil Oliver and Dan Wootton among others.
Well we know Brazier’s ideology is much more in line with GB News than what Sky tries to represent these days. And others than have joined since will have known what it’s all about. There is a few ex-presenters but in reality other than Brazier they’re confined to a much less opinion led Breakfast or just reading the news, with Holmes, who is much more well known for other things, and Diamond who’s never been at Sky the star attractions. So I think it’s just about having accomplished News presenters who can do that a job and are available.

On Neil Oliver I don’t agree with everything he says about vaccines etc, but he’s clearly someone who thinks about his position and always puts forward good points. Wootton however comes across as insincere and Patrick Christys comes across like an over enthusiastic salesman who’s learnt a few key phrases.
Again, some of the non ex-Sky presenters seem to be based on their editorial policy rather than actual talent. Bev Turner who during Covid came out as a sceptic of the vaccine programme during the pandemic was the interviewer of John Hammond when he mentioned climate change.
She seems to be there for her views rather than journalistic credentials.

Come now, Brekkie, she did present F1 coverage on ITV 20 years ago. If that's not qualification enough to ask the tough questions to meteorologists, what is?  Wink

As uncharitable as this will sound, I think a lot of the people who joined GBN after its establishment are there for one last job. Can't say I blame them, tbh. Just a shame about the rest of the channel (in my opinion, and only my opinion, for clarity).
Time for a ?personal news klaxon?!!

This week, I’ll be leaving my role at Sky News Breakfast to take up the post as the new @GBNEWS North West Correspondent!!

I have to laugh at the Dan Wootton show which I glanced a few times since Boris announced his resignation, and I do wonder how his show is not slammed on a daily basis by Ofcom?

At the start of every show he claims there is "no bias" in his programme, and within seconds he takes time to throw a tonne of mud towards former Chancellor of the Exchequer Rishi Sunak, calling him "Fishy Rishi" - can someone explain to me how this is allowed? It is a personal smear by Dan I believe, he seems to be obsessed with Rishi, in the same way Piers Morgan is obsessed with Merghan Markle.

Surely Dan's programme has violated Ofcom rules on impartiality thousands of times, but it seems he has not been rapped by the regulator.

Anyone have any idea how this is allowed under British media rules?

Thanks.
? Breakfast with @EamonnHolmes and Isabel Webster was the highest share programme on GB News yesterday ?
But we also beat Sky at 6.15am, 6.30am, 7.30am, 7.45am and 08.15am
and BBC News at 06.30am, 0645am, 07.45am, 08.00am and 08.15am.
And we are only just getting started!

Not sure what's on BBC News at breakfast time, but it's good to be beating Sky News.

Exactly, and it's now accompanied by an on screen graphic bullet pointing his views too.  I wonder if they're still attracting complaints even considering most viewers who care about impartial broadcasting won't be watching.

A lesson in spin there as what she's confirming is for the 3 hour (or more precisely, 12 quarter hours) the show is on air the majority of the time it is beaten by BBC News and Sky News.
@Brekkietweets
If we visualise that...

...GB News only beat both Sky and the BBC on 3 occasions. Not sure if it's entirely fair though considering:
1) Kay Burley doesn't start until 7
2) Most of BBC Breakfast's viewers will be watching on BBC One
They're both women and that trumps regionality; ITV guidelines
And they're in third place for most of the slot too.

I think they get away with it by having a token ‘woke’ and/or ‘centre-left’ person on the ‘Superstar Panel’  Sick like Benjamin Butterworth or Becca Hutson. That way they can claim there is a counter-balance to Dan’s rants (by having someone there for him to shout at). It’s also the reason the news updates are there - to maintain some semblance of impartiality. I do agree though - it’s exceptionally childish. He also always refers to Sky News as ‘Sly News’. Primary school level stuff, IMO.
I have noticed that GB News have gone down the Fox News route of guests, where there are always unbalanced. When you watch Dan's show, there always seems to be two conservative right wingers on and as you say a token liberal. Meaning totally unbalanced, with a 3 to 1 in favour of Dan and the more centre right position.

I remember watching Special Report with Brit Hume which was on Fox News in the 2000s, and his "All Star Panel" always had two or three right wingers, Republican supports and one Democrat supporter. Fox still uses that technique now, with their "The Five" show has four right wing leaning panel members and one liberal.
