I'd always hope they would actually move into a new building with a proper built studio and larger gallery, but I can't see this happening until they last the initial three years of funding and depending on how well it goes beyond that. On this occasion I think it will probably mean just some new intros and slight change to the set.

On this occasion I think it will probably mean just some new intros and slight change to the set.The set design issues can’t be put down the lack of space, we’ve seen converted office spaces look decent on BBC One programmes and we’ve seen decent looking radio studios in much smaller studios appear on TV. I would imagine it’ll be a full refit of the studio and I could see them moving to the Westminster studio whilst the works take place. As a minimum they need to split the studio into two separate ones.

If I were GB News, I would replicate the LBC Westminster Studio as one studio, replace those ghastly sofas with lighter coloured sofas with an actual screen background and get out about more often for their shows.

I hope new graphics are the priority but it’s GB News so who knows.

On a side note nice to see former GB News host (of two weeks) Andrew Neil is doing well on Channel 4, and his show on Sunday got 676,000 viewers, peaking at 800,000. I wonder how that compared to GB News and Talk TV for the same time slot? Also, Andrew's Channel 4 show got renewed for an autumn series.

That's pretty decent - higher than C4 News gets most nights I think. Was it a one-off or has it been doing that well all series?

I've enjoyed the new C4 version of Andrew's show, more so than the previous BBC Two version. ITN have done a decent job with the set too.

Interesting that he thanked Channel 4 for giving him a berth back on mainstream TV after his self-inflicted GB News humiliation by...constantly retweeting people moaning about his show not being given an hour. Classic Andrew Neil!
Mark Longhurst hosted On the Money today, in what I think was his first proper appearance as a host on GB News.

Further to this, I'd love it if, one weekend when Anne Diamond is away, Mark fills in alongside Stephen. They worked really well together when they did Sky News Today in 2005/2006 - perhaps too well, as often they were a bit silly - but they clearly got on well, and I'd like to think that chemistry might carry on on GBN. |
