Looking ahead at the schedules, it appears that the BBC News at Six from Friday week (8th July) has already been shunted to 19:00 and reduced to 20 minutes, with 25 minute regional news. The BBC News at Ten next Wednesday has also been pushed back 10 minutes due to the first game of the Women's Euros, which isn't unusual for football, but I wasn't aware that Wimbledon shunts were usually planned in advance.

The reason it's like that is because there's a Euros match on BBC2, so the tennis can't move over at six as it does every other day. So it's staying on BBC1.
Speculation in The Times that Victoria Derbyshire may leave the BBC and has met with other broadcasters, including Channel 4 News.

If they lost her……. I can’t even go there.
She’s gone from her own show on radio, to her own show on TV, to presenting run of the mill news channel slots including at weekends, and the BBC News at One about once every two weeks. She can’t be happy with that long term
She should get News at 1. Victoria has settled in nicely on the News Channel and I love seeing her on World, which happens daily cause of her late morning shift simulcast. BBC better save her!

I really like Victoria Derbyshire. I have found her to be a good fit in every role I've seen/heard her in. She covered for Jeremy Vine on his Radio 2 phone in show last year and she was great there too. I find her very competent and personable.

She needs the lead role on Newsnight - if she wanted it. I thoroughly enjoy her on Newsnight, she takes no prisoners. I wonder if Tim Davie will dig deep enough to keep her?

I've really grown to Victoria Derbyshire over the last couple of years after she started appearing on the News Channel during the lockdowns.
I hope that the BBC dig deep down the back of the sofa and get her name on the dotted line for something. She absolutely deserves it after the shocking decision to cancel her own show.
