Is there any source saying that Breakfast will specifically get a new set except for the assumption because the BBC have said the regions will get a refresh, and as they share with NWT that will happen here. Or any suggestion it will happen quickly?

Also on Steve Saul’s twitter (BBC North West Today presenter) he talks about their second set moving temporarily as work begins, and the comment in response from Chris Cook I think makes it clear it’s all connected.

Yes, it was specifically mentioned by Tim Davie. I imagine it'll still be shared with North West Tonight, but sounds like it is the priority for the out of London sets.

I would assume Breakfast will be decamping to North West Tonight's second set while the new set is built? Possibly next week?

Is Breakfast studio based next weekend or are they doing the Jubilee weekend shows on location? That, and reduced bank holiday regional bulletins, might give them the opportunity to get any temporary set up ready for the following week.

Suspect they'll relocate to Birmingham for the Commonwealth Games too but a week and a half nowadays isn't usually enough to get a new set in place and working order.

And of course with the BBC we also know that when things are announced expect them later rather than sooner, so we're probably talking months away rather than weeks away. I doubt they'll even look at it until the national sets at NBH are operational.

Tbh more likely they’ll cover Commonwealth Breakfast from the sports centre than send the presenters there

Jubilee week, lots of OB's but mainly anchored from the studio, don't know of any plans to go to Brum for the games.. again there will be a strong presence but no plans to de-camp (yet..)

I wouldn't hold your breath for a massive change in the next few weeks...

Are they not moving to a whole new studio, not just a new set? If so they won’t need to decamp from the current studio as the work can go on the new studio without effecting the current set up.

Given that people have been clamouring for BBC Breakfast to move out of that shoebox studio for the last ten years, a few more months (realistically speaking, given this is the BBC) is hardly going to hurt.

I’ve always liked the studio the way it is, the Salford backdrop is brilliant and the orange.

Whenever Dan Walker, Ben Thompson or John Watson stood up, it was obvious that they were within inches of the lighting rig.

A broadcasting facility that is on air for different programmes, for so many hours a week, really needs to come from something better than converted office space.

I would love for them to take the plunge and go for the street-level studio that was intended back in 2012, and work around the obstacles that held them back a decade ago. A good set should surely be designed to work for the space provided? Given a lot of the BBC’s decisions over recent years I don’t have much hope, although if they got it right it could really be a great slave and much more befitting of the no.1 breakfast show that’s on air for 25~ hours a week.

Wonder if a good quality green screen set could be a good option to create a feeling of a bigger set in that small space, especially considering the technology at Media City is pretty good for this. Would be easier to switch it between shows too, rather than all shows looking like Breakfast / NWT when they’re in there

You can’t really fix the sunrise times though
