Presumably they'll have sent Alex somewhere to do it via an OB instead. Indeed aren't the national weather bulletins usually done from Grays Inn Road so what did they do at lunchtime?

The bongs sounded a bit funny as well, plus there was no voiceover

Most obvious difference is that Mary is much closer to the camera than usual.

Calendar must have been pre-recorded there is no way they could swap presenters during the length of one advert

Absolutely. And remember that it's not just a case of needing a new studio, depending on how much is out of action at Grays Inn Road there will be journalists amd producers who need to work from elsewhere and the resources and capacity to edit all the items for the bulletins and everything else that is involved in making a news bulletin.

Obviously this will be part of a pre planned DR scenario but even so having a regional newsroom/production facility suddenly needing to ramp up to accommodate the national news too is quite a task.

I'd have thought that the recent thing for home working has helped a lot, as has having a foreign story as top item - it will have been edited in Ukraine.

Is ITV Weather not from Millbank?

ITV London and Evening News forecasts are from GiN.

I suspect ITV Playout being up there may be the deciding factor. Not much difference really in distance from London to most of the English regions - all around the 2 hour mark on the train with Birmingham a bit nearer, Newcastle a bit further.

Weather after the lunchtime was with Becky Mantin from Millbank

The bucolic Meridian background must have had a few ITV London viewers thinking they were watching ITV Midsomer.

Does play out being in Leeds make it easier to line up more OB's?
Was Calendar any different this evening by pre-recording the final segment to allow Mary to prep in the studio?

Surely she'll be staying up here as standby for the Ten?

It means that in a situation where things have *really* hit the fan there's one less thing to think about in getting a circuit from say Granada into playout.

Not that I could see, but then again I may have been watching the fully pre-recorded sub region in the first place.
