Independent Russain TV channel TV Rain has resumed broadcasting on YouTube from Latvia, after it was taken down shortly after the invasion of Ukraine began. Programming will also come from Amsterdam, Paris and Tiblisi over the coming months, though YouTube and a VPN will likely be the only way to view it in Russia.

Probably best to put it here. Sputnik in France quietly went bankrupt in May following Russia's exclusion from SWIFT, according to Le Monde.

On May 4, Sputnik France was discreetly placed in receivership, marking the end of a seven-year adventure for this Kremlin-funded media outlet. The situation quickly changed for the 30 or so employees of the channel after the announcement of the European Union's sanctions. "Two days later, Sputnik stopped publishing content," said Colin Gérard, a geopolitical researcher specializing in Russia, who discovered the company's definitive bankruptcy.

For a couple of weeks in March, some Sputnik editors were still looking for ways out. They even thought of creating a Telegram channel called Fil à Retordre ("Problems to Solve").

"But we got the hint that it would end," said a former reporter for the outlet.

"It was the ban from the SWIFT system [the international interbank system, from which Russian banks were excluded in early March] that did us in," another former employee said. At the time, employees perceived as pro-Russian were also receiving death threats.

"The management advised us to stay home. There was no farewell party," the same source continued. Salaries were paid in March, but by April the coffers were empty, and the AGS, the wage guarantee system, took over. The company closed its doors, but neither the president of Sputnik France, Vladimir Morozov, nor its director, Natalia Novikova, gave any explanation.
