Throwing it all around the schedules doesn't help - can air at any time from 7-9pm and is being flung around due to the variable length of Masterchef Australia. Would probably be best to fix it at 7pm or 8.55pm.
Where is it broadcast from?

Still think something like this would have worked. Using the Newsbeat staff and saved the license fee payer loads money.
Rogers-owned 680News and CityTv combined their branding and their online news operations. The radio operation now uses the famous long-time Citytv slogan "Everywhere!" The newly named CityNews680 provides hourly updates from their studio, running down the hours headlines.

There's zero effort in that production to make it look acceptable on-screen, so whilst it might save a tiny bit of money (which is a drop in the ocean when it comes to the BBC) it simply just wouldn't be fit for purpose if anything close to that. It's rare on this forum that we actually see calls for lower production standards!
It doenst need to look like anything more than what it is. Its a local rolling 24hr news radio station for Toronto. You cant make the same presentation arguement for a national tv channel and national radio station. So of course they wouldnt look the same presention-wise as CityNews 680. Thats just a weird and weak point to make.
Again no said it should look exactly like this. Just the potential of using the radio presenters in-vision for a quick headline rundown. It could be done with a green screen backdrop or something else to dress it up. Radio 1 studios are already tv-ready so its not a big leap to dress it up a bit more. But with the BBC potentially about to lose its funding..... you might need to lower your expectations or re imagine it completely. Or just scrap the News on 3.
The point, though, is that TV is a visual medium. Sticking a webcam in a radio studio sort of misses the point. You can - in a very different way to radio - tell a story through pictures. Writing for radio is a lot more descriptive. You explain sounds and then add in detail of the images. Taken together, these are two very different mediums with two very different objectives in mind.
I do also just want to come back to this idea that this sort of stunt is a money saver. Let's just think about the practicality of this. Newsbeat has an on-air team who predominantly work during the day. BBC Three? Oh yeah, they commence at 7pm. So: short of recording all of these bulletins during the day, who do you imagine is going to be around to record these?
These two teams do very different jobs and work to different objectives. Yes, it would perhaps be an idea to consider the branding of bulletins as Newsbeat (a poor idea, I hasten to add considering the sound element to the name) but that is about as far as you can take the idea without just assuming that editorial, production, and on-air teams can magic this up out of thin air.
And again you are missing the point completely. Like I just said repeatedly, im not saying sticking a webcam is the solution. But I do appreciate your typing skills. Nice. I make frequent typos.
The Newsbest team has more talent then you all seem to give them credit for. Seems they can do more than just "write stories for radio". Interesting that.

Right. SImple solution. Just drop a BEAT behind the headlines. Job done. Creating issues...me thinks kind sir? Gotta love that optimism.

Having news at the same time every day is boring. I like irregularly-timed bulletins. That way, no-one knows what time the next one will be on and everyone is kept on their toes. But, to be more serious, I think this is part of the aim. It's not an appointment-to-view news programme of the type normal to mainstream BBC One/Two. People aren't supposed to be tuning in to BBC Three for the news, instead the Catch Up is aimed at people who may have no other source of mainstream news, whose 'news' consumption may be full of misinformation from those parts of social media that provide that and, when they do (rarely) see broadcast news, they feel they have missed what's gone on for the past month. The programme is therefore moved around the schedule so that these people, who may be news sceptic and might tune out if they knew news was going to be on, may stumble across the news and hear it as part of viewing the programme before and through to watching the programme after the Catch Up and, as it's just two or three minutes, that's done the job of the lightest consumers of television news seeing the programme.

Couple of things: firstly, I am part of that team so, yes, I can fully appreciate 'our' skills and thanks for noticing. What I am trying *trying* to get through to you is that these are very different mediums.
We are all now multi-skilled and work across a range of platforms and medias. It's an essential part of how we tell stories. What we haven't quite mastered yet is being able to split oneself in half. So: if you want a TV bulletin (at a later part of the day), alongside radio bulletins (which are already carried across a number of stations) you have to increase the number of people available. I've already explained how the shift set-up wouldn't really lend itself to this.
Taken together, then, your plan really doesn't add up. I'm not trying to be difficult but we work really hard to produce content that is relevant and effective for its medium and the idea that somehow we can just knock out another form -- 'save loads of dosh' -- is a bit insulting.
I think that's what the youth call being owned.
Kirsty Grant finally made her debut on The Catch Up this evening after stand-in Julia Belle has been covering for the last few days.
I did see her post about leaving Newsbeat recently, nice to see her join the team officially now.
In addition to the BBC News logo being burned onto 'The Context' titles, it has now also made its way onto The Catch Up titles and some of the wipes...

Kind of pointless, especially considering they're still using the Gill Sans masterbrand. It's like they feel the need to fill up the blank space in the titles for some reason...
IIRC there's a period when BBC/ITV burned their logo into their programme openings, but ultimately failed?
Better than the treatment on (The) Context nevertheless - fortunately no double-branding here.
And of course the programme ends with the new BBC blocks. Seriously what the hell is going on here? The new brand has been rolled out for half a year now, the News app has just rebranded with the new blocks (and icon!) and yet someone has been tasked with adding in the old logo into the titles.
Whenever BBC News eventually get around to actually using the new logo (it has been rumoured to be this month) someone is now going to have to re-edit the titles. What a waste of time.

ITV gave it up pretty quickly after the 2013 rebrand, but the BBC logo started with the switch to digital (?), and still persists today - albeit the logo is more integrated into the programmes logo (see Top Gear, Doctor Who and a whole bunch of recent CBBC stuff for examples).
It's a long way since the logo was being burned into third party produced programmes - there was an image on here or the blue place that had the logo on Celebrity Big Brother 1 (for Comic Relief) - Channel 4 had the nightly highlights while the BBC had a short 10 min update.
Seen The Catch Up a few times lately and I have to say, it’s a really good little show. Right level of seriousness, and some nice looking graphics. Definitely more Newsbeat than 60 Seconds.
Caught up (pun intended) with a few editions of The Catch Up and I like it. Especially the design, it looks both BBC Three and BBC News. I think it could even be shown on BBC News Channel during the weekend, kinda like FYI is shown on Sky News.
