I still think they’ve missed a trick not being newsbeat... I get the ‘newsbeat would need a bigger team’ logic above... but they’ve had to put a team in place for this ‘catch up’ and would also then have mad much more sense to utilise newsbeat specials etc on the channel.
Really non-joined up thinking from bbc which surely needs to take people on the journey between different strands of the BBC to keep it alive

It might be worth remembering too that apart from TV and Radio being quite different media to write for, Newsbeat is in the process of being moved from London to Birmingham.

And yes - clearly a different medium - but it’s about the brand. No one is proposing just visualising the 545 newsbeat and putting it out at 7.

Again, I think David Lowe's done a fantastic job with the music, there's a recognisable "BBC News"-esque tone to it without being too serious for a younger audience on BBC Three.
On the topic of sound design, I hate to think what would become of BBC News if they ever move away from David Lowe's themes. A part of me thinks it'll be nice/good to go for a change, another part of me thinks that the themes have become such a recognisable signature of the BBC that it'll be a waste to leave it all behind.
Not to stray too far into rota chat, but I see they had another new face presenting tonight, Julia Belle.
I wonder if they may be using the Friday edition as a way of testing some other talent on air, while keeping some consistency with the regular team Monday to Thursday.

They also had Abbie Dewhurst from Look North Leeds to discuss Storm Eunice rather than the duty forecaster at BH presumably as she's in the BBC Three demo.

Not the smoothest edition... a couple of false starts with the titles/cueing the presenter. Computer issues?
Seems they've tweaked the format a bit, feels more like a mini-bulletin with a bit more stories/sections crammed in. I think it works better
