Chris Rogers hasn't presented BBC News recently. Think unlikely Huw, George and Fiona would leave at the same position. Don't think need that many regular network presenters are needed, plus Victoria Derbyshire who has been doing it recently. Doubt they'd use Dan Walker for network news bulletins, he has Sport commitments and Strictly this Autumn.
Didn't Chris mainly host on strike days, which we haven't had for quite some time now?

Breakfast is made by BBC News but it's not the same as presenting a bulletin and it wouldn't suit Dan at all.
Historically, some Breakfast presenters have transitioned quite successfully to main bulletins, e.g. Sophie Raworth, Natasha Kaplinsky, Darren Jordon. There may be others as those were just the first three that came to mind.

Absolutely correct. I think it's more to do with the fact they are based in Salford rather than anything to do with the format of Breakfast not being a suitable training ground for network news bulletins.
Arguably, Breakfast requires far greater skill as a presenter than a network bulletin. Network bulletins are pretty formulaic and serious in tone. There are very few live interviews and the "chats" with correspondents are heavily scripted/planned. Presenters on Breakfast, like news channels, have to be able to switch from serious to light and back again at a moment's notice, as well as conduct on the fly interviews with a wide range of guests. Dan Walker could probably read a network bulletin in his sleep.
If the powers that be wanted a Breakfast presenter to move to network bulletins and the presenter was willing to relocate to London, then there's absolutely nothing stopping that from happening.
