Gobo projector. There's one on the other side too providing the Page 2/Safayeh Doh logo you can see on the left hand wall.

The two big issues are the ill fitted cover and the fact you really can't be anything out of that window which was surely have the reason of installing a studio in there unlike you can when BBC Persian are in there.
I hope the same someone who made the newsnight cover has upgraded their eyesight or bought a decent sewing machine for when Marr moves in - if not, leave it red.

Didn't the previous editor Ian Katz jump ship to Channel 4 as well? It will be interesting to see who replaces her.

I suppose from Channel 4's point of view Newsnight is the only other news programme that is really similar to it and so it makes sense to recruit from that pool. From a Newsnight employee's perspective, it is hard not to see it as a promotion these days - better platform, better working hours, (probably) better pay and an ability to be a newsmaker.
Also, at this point, it's less jumping ship and more rats fleeing a sinking ship. Newsnight is not what it once was - not in terms of reputation/clout and certainly not in terms of production values. The latest stripping of its own team of correspondents will ensure that the programme has virtually no ability to shape the news agenda and is likely going to be reduced to little more than long-form interviews out of necessity. If you're a serious journalist, the choice between editing a respected, national news programme and being somebody who picks the line-up for Politics Live Nights isn't particularly difficult.
Plus you have better job security at Channel 4. While it may have its own problems up ahead with privatisation, I doubt C4 News will suffer anywhere on the same scale as BBC News' secondary programmes and will definitely continue to exist - unlike Newsnight which increasingly looks just one more round of budget cuts away from being replaced with a glorified News Channel simulcast.
Of course, there were also plenty of rumours that Emily Maitlis was one of those being touted to take over from Jon Snow, and I suspect this will fuel that speculation.
Also worth noting that Deborah Cohen is also leaving Newsnight to also join ITN as science editor at ITV News.
I've just watched yesterday's Newsnight, which is always a delight when presented by Emma Barnett.
She's basically a "rabid wolf in sheep's clothing", and she tears apart politicians faster than I could rip up a tissue.
They fall for the "cuddly blonde" image every time, for a few minutes. They end as a chewed-up hamster. Wonderful style of interrogation.

She's so fabulous in that role, but no surprise considering her abilities on 5Live. She's definitely one to watch.

Sorry but I don't rate her. All she does is attack, interrupt and - the worst thing about her - get upset. It's almost as if she's having a tantrum. She shines no light. I constantly feel after watching her interview someone that I've not learned anything, but just watched two people have a row.
it’ll be a very different Newsnight tonight following today’s horrific and heartbreaking news from the channel.
Newsnight had already planned to do a special on the migrant crisis long before this tragedy unfolded.

Since when has Newsnight returned to starting at 22:300? I was quite suprised watching the end of the late finishing BBC News at Ten that Huw said "Newsnight has just started over on BBC Two".
Looking at the iPlayer TV guide it's the same last week, this week and next week at least.
