Nothing against Anne Robinson per se, she was fine, but it felt as phoned in as Nick Hewer, whether that’s first episode nerves I don’t know. I’m sure she’ll get better over time.
I’d still have gone with Colin Murray. Nice to see the clip with Richard Whiteley at the beginning though.
I quite enjoyed that. It felt to me as if it moved at a bit of a quicker pace than Hewer's shows, might just be me though.
I enjoyed that. The game seemed to flow well, and Anne was a breath of fresh air.
(Oh, and I got the conundrum in 2 seconds, but I won't boast about that!!)
Anne was great (as expected) and the programme definitely felt like it flowed faster that before.
I'm not a huge Countdown watcher so can't really compare to the Nick/Des/Richard days but with Anne a few things I noticed...
- She was looking down a lot at the script/running order of what round was next. On the Weakest Link she was always looking down reading the script from the monitor, I would have thought on Countdown the autoque in front of her would tell her what round it is next?
- Light reflection from her glasses, lots of bright white light seen in her specs. I don't recall her glasses being a problem on Weakest Link?
Other than that a good start, and nice to see Anne not wearing black. Good wink at the end (I was hoping for
"Join us again for Countdown, Goodbye") rather than the usual see you tomorrow.

I'll echo what the both of you have said, She did excellent, I'd compare her presenting more like her presenting style for Watchdog or Points Of View than her presenting style for The Weakest Link. As many people (Including Nick Hewer) said, what Anne did on The Weakest Link was an act

I got the first 2 numbers games right when at least one contestant didn't, so I felt a bit smug.
Maybe, when Anne leaves this show....... perhaps Mark Chapman will take over her...

Well she's no Colin Murray but seemed to have a better grasp of proceedings than Nick Hewer did. Should all run a bit smoother once she has a few shows under her belt but I still don't think it's the direction the show should have gone in and she'll probably alienate more viewers than she'll bring in.
From what we saw today and from what I’ve read it looks like Anne still may keep some of her cheeky side when dealing with contestants. I think if the balance is right it’ll work well and I’m sure she’ll prove a ratings hit without totally changing the character of the show.
Am I alone in wanting a change in colour scheme for the set? It's been pretty much the same blue colour scheme since Jeff Stelling took over and I've always thought it looked cold compared to previous sets.
I notice from the Breakfast feature this morning and Anne said something like Nick was left handed so they removed the button to start the clock and looking at a small part of the show today it does look like Anne doesn't not start the clock. Can anyone confirm this?

I noticed that when I was watching, I didn't hear the faint clicking sound that you would normally hear when the clock is started.
I wonder if the clock will be started from the Gallery on Catsdown from now on, or if Jimmy will still start the clock himself
