The Australian comedy version of Countdown started today.

They’re are playing it more straight compared to Catsdown and they are now using the UK music.
Unlike the previous version this is an ITV Studios production and ITV Studios jointly credited for the format, so that’s probably explains why the music has turned up this time.

Interesting that they have changed the rules so each player gets points for their longest word rather than just the winner of each round.
I wonder if the third player was a late decision? They could surely have designed the set to be a bit more symmetrical, unless they are also doing non-celeb versions with two players?
Lily's board seems at least a foot too low to be comfortable and it irritates me that the logo has a generic arrowhead rather than the actual clock hand.
I guess this is more Celebrity Countdown than Cats does Countdown but very watchable. I know they show Catsdown in Oz so they maybe don't need a homegrown version of the extreme version just yet.

I guess with three players points all round makes sense. Agree Lily seemingly only having a miniature board looks odd, as does the position of the third contestant, but thought the host did a good job even though the show didn't quite know where it was positioning itself.

That made me chuckle. I've still not fully taken to her yet but it's clear she's much more confident in the chair and seems to have settled in rather well.

I still find Anne too cold and unfriendly for such a cosy programme.
I expected initially that she'd be more genial like in her Points Of View days, but maybe she feels her scary Watchdog/Weakest Link persona is too established now to revert to something more friendly. It's a shame, as I really don't think she's a good fit for the programme.

It's as bad a choice as Richard Whiteley hosting The Weakest Link would have been.
