I wonder how many entires we will have with the six suspended votes.

Monaco said they might return and maybe Morocco now they have peace with Israel.

Well the UK has a history of finishing second when the next year they need a host to step in and I think the political will be there to support it. I think reality is unless we have a swift total and irreversible ceasefire in Ukraine sadly it just won't be practical, especially with more pressing rebuilding required.

Where’s BCastCornwall this year?

President Zelinksy has announced Ukraine want to host in Mariupol. That is ambitious.

Honestly, to make a city safe for tourism and citizens is going to take time and I'm not sure if you can realistically achieve that by next year.

Not at all. As much as I want them to be able to host, I can’t see it happening.

Obviously the war would have to be over, but other than that it depends on what condition parts of the country are in. We get mixed stories on that topic - on on hand we have tales about the Ukraine commentator having to do it from a bunker as if there is no other option, but on the other hand we hear that some cities (the sort of places Reeta Chakrabarti rather than Clive Myrie visited) are still functioning normally. If the latter is true they could host it there.

I can’t see the travel advices around the world saying Ukraine is safe to travel to by September. And that’s when the EBU need to decide.

Those cities are still getting air raid warnings and occasional attacks. That’s another major risk factor. Would Broadcasters be able to get affordable insurance to travel to Ukraine for the delegation members?

I don't think Ukraine will host next year as well. Honestly, I don't see the war end in sight

I think the Ukrainian government/broadcaster will push to have the contest take place in their country. Yes it will be expensive and logistically complicated but I think it would send an important message about the country still standing. It's the same reason Zelensky decided to stay in the capital despite the dangers.

Will be a tough decision for the EBU though as clearly there will be a lot of risks involved. We'll see...

I’m not sure all the other broadcasters will be willing to commit to traveling.

Poland being one of the countries whose jury vote got cancelled surely rules them out of the running to be a stand in host.

The EBU remained diplomatic of the question of if Ukraine can host.

UK hosting on behalf of Ukraine rather than outright might be a win for us - a co-pro with Suspline takes some financial pressure off Auntie. Ukraine had to bring in a ton of Scandinavian help in last time anyway, so they might as might as well ask the BBC to proxy host.

And also, it doesn't mean we can't have a show with Jamala, Ruslana, Verka etc.
