Agreed, but the UK PM is well liked in Ukraine and the Ukrainians want to host it. The UK Government also supports the UK hosting it but doesn't want it to come like a slap in the face for the Ukrainian people. 

It would be a clever bit of marketing though to make it feel like a Ukrainian event despite it being in the UK. The logo could easily be UKraine and the BBC could theoretically include a video link up to a Ukrainian presenter throughout the evening to keep the feel of the contest Ukrainian.

I see we're not the only ones engaging in wild speculation!

I'm glad it's not just the BBC using out of date logos.

Late Final? That doesn't make sense nowadays when local papers are released in the morning like the nationals.

And those guys in Aberdeen do realise that the contest logo would have the union flag in it, not the saltire, right?

From the way I read it RTVe have only ruled out hosting because they believe the BBC will be doing so.  His statement implied they'd be keen to host should they gave the opportunity.

I think the Stereophonics gig on now highlights why a stadium venue of the size of the Principality Stadium just wouldn't be right for Eurovision.

Interesting about the NEP network in that thread.  Would connectivity to that network be a deal breaker in where the show goes - NEP trucks have done the OB for several years now haven't they, pretty much since SVT's OB operations were acquired?

I am not the BBC will end up hosting. I am not sure the Ukrainians will accept not hosting and the BBC will be very reluctant unless they have the backing of the Ukrainians.

And even then will BBC News want the BBC to host as Russia will surely retaliate by expelling the remains BBC news personal inside Russia.

Yeah, you've said.  But aren't the Beeb already marking their cards by boosting SW transmissions in order to get impartial news into Russia (where the freedom of the press, or lack of, is well documented elsewhere?)

As you've said several times but you clearly are not grasping the reality of the situation.   It is not Ukraine's contest to hold - they have not met the requirements for the EBU to proceed with them winning for very obvious reasons.    

As for BBC News in Russia - that's not a factor at all.   Dozens, if not hundreds, of journalists and broadcasting personnel have already been blacklisted.   You don't cower in fear to an enemy like Russia and you don't refuse to host events just incase it upsets a dictator waging an unjust and illegal war.    The UK have already done things politically and in military terms which will upset Putin far more than hosting the Eurovision Song Contest ever will.
