They're struggling to gain an audience with the 60 mins they have currently for that show. Again it's TalkRadio listeners short changed of airtime tonight when it'd be a perfect opportunity to get their target audience reaction to whatever the outcome is.
Perhaps an hour of Piers will be UK-only, with the other hour for the syndicated version?
As someone said above, big news days is where these channels will likely suffer, with the big budgets of BBC/Sky providing much better coverage. Totally agree that effectively closing TalkRadio for this kind of news day is bonkers. All very messy.
The News Desk once again proving itself to be a pretty fine TV news show, not sure this suits the Radio audience though.

Adam Boulton has put in quite a shift - he’s been on all 3 TalkTV shows. Also means Julia will be off air at midnight and back on at half 6.
Frankly, Adam Boulton has been the star of the show!
Julia is politically bent anyway.
The concern here is that Jeremy Kyle looks out of his depth on this type of coverage.
It also seems at 23:30 that Adam Boulton has gone into presenting the programme!
TalkTV launching has done wonders for GB News. Now there is a comparable product it makes it look like a massive success story.
I think the way forward for Talk TV, is basically to just be a radio station that’s on TV, axe the stuff that’s made for TV and simply simulcast on the radio and just give the radio shows a studio that’s like LBC’s Westminster one. Also rebranding the station to Talk News so it’s platform agnostic. If they just treat it as an extension to the radio station, it might seem more viable long term. And potentially a model that could role out to talkSPORT’s studio based output.

I actually like that idea, Talk News and Talk Sport as two quasi-radio/tv channels could well be a good model. I think you're on to something there!
The idea of rebranding talkRADIO as talkNEWS was floated ages by Chris Evans, not sure why it never happened.
I imagine there will be tweaks before NewsUK finally throw in the towel though, so who knows it may still happen.
The News Desk is a disaster and just isn't getting any traction at all. It surely can't sustain with those kind of figures.
Horrendous figures - they must be making a real financial loss. The Piers show last night was just him with three talking heads (including Sharon Osborne bless her) so who in their right mind actually interested in the vote would have picked that over BBC and Sky? They also kept cutting to footage of an empty Downing Street when all the action was at HoC of course.
Classic Guido though - presumably he's chosen this time to miss off Sky News and BBC News because they crushed the right wing talking head channels.
