Something that had completely slipped under the radar for me in the last few days was the announcement of the guests for Kate Garraway's first 3 episodes of Life Stories, as she takes over from Piers.

It's a pretty good line-up with Nadiya Hussain, Charlotte Church and John Barnes making up the guests for Kate's first series

According to this DS article, these episodes will air in February (though I can't seem to find an ITV press release backing this up)

I think she'll do a good job of this.

I am not a fan of Piers Morgan but this show was one place he did shine. I'm optimistic Kate Garraway will keep this up.

I hope there will be further series and she's not just a 'fill in' to get to the end of the already commissioned shows.

I wonder if there's a whole new roster of guests willing to partake just because they don't like Piers.

Might be the case but the calibre of guest had noticeably dropped over the last couple of series and this line up doesn't suggest Kate taking over has changed that.

Does Kate taking over this though make her the first primetime female chatshow host, with their own series, on network ITV in quite some time, if ever? They're few and far between in general anyway - only Davina's effort and the Gaby Roslin Show spri g to mind from the last 30 years, along with Charlotte Church's own effort on C4.

I don't think it was doing great numbers with Piers, definitely felt like a show that was coming to a natural end.

But good luck to her anyway.
