Channel Four News - Now from Leeds

This actually didn’t look too bad for a newsroom position. (Literally reading the news from his office desk).

The prominent BBC branding on the screens at 1:40 is slightly unfortunate.

I guess this is the closest things to a general C4 News thread?

I notice the graphics on this seems slightly updates - subtitles, there’s a brief ‘4’ graphic when the interviewee name appears and a ‘bouncier’ endcap. It looks a little fresher and younger perhaps?

The Sunday Times has an article speculating on who may replace Jon Snow as the lead presenter of C4 News.

https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/who-w...-lnn2wnw6p

Quote:Maitlis has the stature to replace Snow, but sources poured scorn on the idea that she would be hired. “Would Esme really want her first move to be appointing her mate?” asked one, adding that Maitlis was believed to like the range of work the BBC offers. “She gets to make documentaries on American politics, write the odd book and appear on the cover of Tatler — that wouldn’t really happen with Channel 4, even if they promised it.”

A further complication is that Deborah Turness, the chief executive of ITN, is moving in the opposite direction to Wren, becoming the BBC’s head of news and current affairs, and may not wish to lose a high-profile presenter from her future employer.

Emily Maitlis appears to be ruled out. Unless they bring someone else in from outside, it's likely to be between Matt Frei, Krishnan Guru-Murthy or Cathy Newman.

You'd assume the answer is whoever has presented it for the last month but it does seem nowadays that even when you have a years notice someone is leaving they don't have a replacement in place when they leave.

As difficult as it is to replace someone with the stature of Jon Snow the fact C4 has long been an ensemble piece and you were as likely to get two other presenters as you were Jon Snow means it should be pretty seemless.

It’s not a long term appointment, but if they wanted to add a high profile name to the team Andrew Neil would be a pretty natural fit to me. Already linked to C4, is available and worked well as a co-presenter on the Daily Politics for a number of years.

I disagree - he is not a natural news presenter - he is a opinion led broadcaster - I wouldn’t like to see Andrew Neil presenting daily news

Channel 4 has got itself into some controversy earlier today about the employment issues with Pregnant women and apparent rules about NDA's.

Is the news studio part of same complex used for Stephs Packed Lunch or have ITN leased elsewhere such as ITVs Kirkstall Road for use?
#12
It's somewhere down in the Brewery Wharf area of Leeds

I don't think that's a million miles away from Steph's studio but it's not the same place.

In fact, if those windows are real, it has to be above the Sainsbury's Local!

Surprised they didn't wait until Monday, the whole show (thanks to the start of BST on Sunday) would then be in daylight

Given the view it's probably best they do it in darkness. At least Steph's Packed Lunch has a fairly nice waterfront view - this looks like they're broadcasting from a doctors surgery car park.

Is this replacing the London studio or will it be used in addition to the ITN HQ?
