Reality tv is only hit many digital channels have

Outside love island season on itv 2 nothing seems to rate well now , without the movies to fill schedules the channel seems unable to find any returning hit shows now only love island seems to have impact.

Should itv 2 add more reality tv to spread out over the year not just have love island , would big brother rights actually be a good idea to aquire to launch on itv 2 ?
Therefore 2 reality tv hits per year to fill more of the year.

Has itv be channel actually weakened itv2 removing any hit shows onto itv be and itv 2 now can't replace them?
Having small audience split between itv 2 and itv be channel a good thing or bad?

E4 outside married at first sight reality show also has very few hits without USA imported shows.

Why wasn't the circle added to e4 as a way of carrying on reality tv audience longer in the year?

Including channel 5s other channels with itvs and channel 4s just seems only the BBC can actually have two channels with good ratings , know bbc2 has been established such a long time but by now thought itvs, c4, c5s extra channels would at least have more retuning hits but still don't .

Is it not in commercial channels benefits to invest more in other channels content and find hit returning shows ?

Now with streaming and download catch up takeover should these Channels actually eventually be removed as be less cost effective if say in ten years online catch up even more dominant.

I would actually now (know be not popular opinion but ....) ?
Rename itv 2 ...itv reality and get big brother rights and add reality shows from all over the world to run nightly.
Itv 3 rename itv gold and itv 4 rename it itv sport

With channel 4s extra channels I'd focus on the back catalogue e4 becomes 4gold channel.

Actually don't know why BBC is bringing back bbc3 it's established itself online and has is shows played out in bbc1 after the news .
If the licence fee is to go in the future surly carrying on the younger generation focus online to eventually be subscription is a way of funding .
Seems totally back steps and no real clue on licence fee scrapped future still! BBC stuck in the past etc.

From what I can grasp from the OPs post, I don't think it matters for ITV2 as it's supported by the main channel, which is the same for ITV3, 4 and Be.

Love Island is a big revenue earner for ITV2 and attracts advertisers for what is becoming a hard to reach demographic who use streaming services.

Global Radio are able to provide niche services because they have revenue earning brands in Capital and Heart which support the smaller brands.

Love Island enables ITV2 to do what Big Brother used to enable C4 to do - commission far more content outside of the show itself across the year and somewhat take the hit if they're not ratings hits.

What ITV2 and E4 (and C4 and C5 for that matter) miss more than movies or formats that have gone elsewhere is the network US dramas which would anchor a slot for 22 weeks. They rarely now feature on free to air TV outside of 5USA, and when they do take the chance they soon get bumped to an off peak slot if not an instant hit. ITV2 and E4 now seem to have a default schedule based around nightly reruns of the same shows which occasionally get interrupted by new programming.
