Or on the website or social media. I think we can safely assume the radio logos aren’t changing yet. Maybe they’ll change them when Sounds gets it’s refresh and block icon.

You'd have thought changing the radio logos would have been the biggest quick win here, update icons on Sounds and new slates for TV channels. Done! Max change for least effort (OK I've oversimplified it but you get the idea)

You'd have thought so but not surprising that is one that is being held off and IMO unlike some other decisions this one isn't a problem. Of course though the difference now to 1997 is that BBC Radio has a much greater visual presence.

Not really, outside of online and things like the TV channels, everything else with the radio logos on is physical, for example signage in studios. That's a bigger job

There's no denying that there is more to the radio side of branding than HTV Best has mentioned. However, I see the merit in his argument. The vast majority of items which have radio logos on aren't typically seen by the general public. So I'm somewhat surprised that there hasn't at least been some transition today.

Would be good to have some insight on the programme to relaunch services, I know News is rumoured to be February/March for example. I presume it will be the Sounds relaunch where we see the new suite of Radio logos.

In some ways the individual service relaunches will be more of an event than today has been.

Apparently the new logos don't come in until early next year according to radio today

Here’s the link to the story:

All national and local BBC radio stations to get new logos

Interesting they’re saying local stations will get new logos despite these being updated less than a year ago.

New news bed on 6Music this morning. Bit jarring as the old one was in use for as long as I can remember.

That's not the case, branding is only for the general public, they don't splash logos on everything just so those working at the station can gawp at them.

Everything from the microphone cube to the sign on the outside of the building is there for non staff, whether they be watching a clip of the presenter on Facebook or visiting the studio

We have no logos or branding in the department I work, that's because no one from outside visits (that's just the sort of place it is, we're not all miserable gits who don't like the public..... well not all of us!) so we don't need them, we know where we work

I think those are far less critical than say a 24 hour customer facing news operation though. Yes, they should be changed as soon as practical but it's less critical they're a Day 1 change, although streaming of content does make it more so than in the past.

To be honest though, they were so basic that they do seem like a temporary solution, not that the old ones were bad
