This is a bit of an odd one. A new reality talent show has launched in Ireland tonight called The Big Deal. It's a similar concept to the upcoming Cowell show Walk the Line where contestants perform and then are offered money to leave or can face the judges for the chance to progress to the next round for more money. Boy George, Jedward and one quarter of JLS are amongst the judges.
So far it just sounds like another Irish talent show done on the cheap, but this is being made by Fox Alternative Entertainment and is seemingly being piloted in Ireland with a view to launching it in the US. FOX even tweeting about it today.

Is this a common tactic of US networks and producers? I know Survivor had to go to Sweden to get commissioned having been turned down in the UK, which led to it getting picked up in the US, but I think that was more a case of having to find someone who wants the show rather than a deliberate tactic.
