Although I do not have a recording of today's Lunchtime Bulletin, today was the first time since 2019 to have Summer Background for the news bulletins.

Yeah it was nice to see that view again.
Also at the end of the main Granada Reports programme on Thursday it was announced long-time reporter Ashley Derricot was leaving the team.

^To answer that enquiry, they have the windowed background when the clocks go forward an hour, and the studio background when the clocks go back an hour. It was also good to see the Sports Presenter (Mike Hall) back in the studio again.

My First Post on the new Forum and what better way to start than Granada Reports.
It was lovely to see the sunny window backdrop again and I managed to take a photo but unsure how to upload it on here as it doesn’t have an upload. I wasn’t aware about Ashley leaving.

^I don't think anyone was aware that he was leaving until it was mentioned on Thursday's Granada Reports.

Manchester United playing in Granada today, which led to this.

I've seen that on Twitter a couple of days ago. That was hilarious, but also a good reference to the fact that ITV Granada was named after the town (or city) in Spain that also goes by the name Granada.

Don't know if this is the correct thread but ITV Granada today celebrates it's 65th anniversary and as a result it's Granada Reports' 65th anniversary as well, many happy returns to them!

Nice to see that the site banner has been updated to reflect this anniversary

Wasn't the Granada Reports name not used until the 70s or 80s - I think originally it was called Scene at 6.30?
03-05-2021, 08:47 PM
Wasnt it also changed to Granada Tonight for a while as well?
But either way Happy Anniversary ! Granada now a shadow of its former self sadly but at least the name survives albeit in regional news and weather only.

It was Scene At 6:30 for much of the 1960’s, I believe it was then called Six-O-One, before changing to Granada Reports in 1973. Granada Tonight being the name between January 1990 and September 2001.

I think it was discussed on TVF a few years back that it was somewhat strange that Granada kept Reports despite other regions becoming “ITV News (Region)” because it didn’t have that much longevity as a name. Border kept Lookaround and Yorkshire kept Calendar, but the others all changed. |
