I have a Glastonbury 2021 question and didn't see a thread, So it was my understanding Glastonbury themselves were putting on a 5 hour PPV show next Saturday and Sunday but having seen this tweet, Im confused why the BBC are involved? Are they due to be showing it or anything else?

So what sort of bandwidth does a live video stream actually need? What does YouTube and Twitch do differently that many other providers fail, aside from being able to handle the traffic?

I’m surprised many paid £20 for a “live stream” of content that was filmed weeks ago starting at a specific time they set. It’s a lot of money for a stream you cannot rewind, it’s almost like Sky Box Office from the 2000s, they would have been better charging £10 for a feed you could watch at any time.

You could rewind the stream apparently as that was the provider's first line of defense for those logging in late, but I thought it was misleading this "live" event was largely, if not solely, pre-recorded.

It may have worked if the content was actually live but otherwise it's 2021, linear content is a thing of the past.

The 'director's cut' version will air in coming weeks while highlights of the event and a behind-the-scenes documentary will air during 'The Glastonbury Experience' during the last weekend of June (Friday 25th - Sunday 27th)
