When I first saw Amol's "scoop" I did expect to see a GB News announcement to follow... but the Channel 4 press release states he's working with the broadcaster on some longer form content in 2022. So yes, a semi-retirement is basically what it seems like.

Interesting phrase in 'and represent the Channel in other matters'... unsure what this could mean?

And he’s recently become a father again. So understandable why he might want to reduce his workload.

I am sad, he was the reason I started watching Channel 4 News after BBC Three was closed, but then again BBC Three is returning as a TV channel next January so.....in the end all is good what ends well! What a coincidence though.

EDIT To be honest I sort of expected it, after some of his contemporaries on mainland Europe retired last year (like Jan Hofer and Jean Pierre Pernaut) I thought it was a matter of time before Jon Snow retired as well

Jon Snow is a legend, but it was only a matter of time. The show is left in very capable hands with the likes of Krishnan and Matt Frei, although if they wanted to bolster their ranks if they could tempt Katty Kay back to the UK I think she'd be a very good fit. Cathy Newman has improved signficantly over the years too but have to wonder if they will look to get a bigger name in to attract attention.

I think Channel 4 News is fine as it is presenter wise, I'm not sure if any big name would be interested to step into Jon's shoes as it would be unfairly compared.

Although he's not in news anymore, I do think Paxman will step down from University Challenge within the next few years.

I'm going to guess they'll give him his own current affairs show. He also recently (well, last year) hosted a quiz show that (from what I could tell) was basically Channel 4's answer to Only Connect.

Jon Snow was the main reason I watched Channel 4 News over the years. He was really a journalist I trusted the most on television. Shame he is going, but understandable at his age he wants to take things easy.

Sad but not really a surprise imo. I do thing his delivery has become increasingly off lately as if he was struggling. He doesn't need to be replaced though, they've done well at building up an excellent ensemble over the past decade.
