Just watched the repeat of The Metro, a programme about the Tyne & Wear Metro on ITV and I'm a bit confused by something.

The endcap says "Wise Owl, an all3media company, for ITV", yet the copyright caption said © ITV Studios Limited 2020.

Was this originally an ITV Studios production and sold to all3media or the other way round?

No, made by Wise Owl, all3media but ITV would own the copyright and therefore through-sales.

I'm going to guess it's either a cock up (does the example end board in the kit of parts template have ITV Studios as the credit perhaps?), or possibly ITV Studios pitched the format and got the commission from ITV then contracted all3 to make it for them.

Yeah, sounds like it might be a case where, had this been made 20 years ago, it would've been dual credited to Wise Owl and Tyne Tees. Didn't the ITV company usually have the copyright in those kind of co-productions?

As I mentioned before - made by Wise Owl, an all3 media company for ITV but the Copyright is owned by ITV.
