Box Babble - Starting a new community for TV pres fans
#1
Afternoon all.

I am really sorry that this site is closing, but understand and respect Rob's decision.

I am interested in seeing if we can form a new community of people interested in TV presentation.

For my own part, I've been interested in TV pres since I was a child and haven't shaken the habit now I'm in my mid thirties.

I will be happy to continue posting wherever the discussion goes... My site or anywhere else (except discord).

But if you fancy joining my site, it's the link in my sig.

Would love to establish a moderation team as soon as possible to build the community and would love suggestions.

This forum looks more promising than the one by Clean Feed. I like it.

Thanks for your kind words.

That's certainly the best looking, cosmetically, so far.

Have given Box Babble an interim lick of paint as of this morning.

Currently working through my to-do list.

Please take a look, as and when you can.

Cheers

Morning all,

So here's where we are at this Friday morning.

Some discussion taking place already in the community. I'd love to get more of you over there, if you're willing to give it a go.

The test-card inspired interim design for the site went live yesterday. Expect a few tune-ups over the next couple of weeks.

All feedback taken on board. On here, or over there!

I have put in place the community's guidelines today - a short set of rules that will hopefully keep members safe and set up a framework for fair moderation.

The idea is that everyone knows where they stand and can get on with the business of discussing TV presentation and related topics.

You can take a look here: Community Guidelines - Box Babble

This should give some protection to future moderators and hopefully prevent a re-occurrence of the hassle that has been caused to people like Rob or Asa before him.

Meanwhile, over on Box Babble we already have some great discussion already taking place, including:

2023's Eurovision and the search for a host city
Kicking off a world tour of TV presentation and
The Commonwealth Games from Birmingham

And while I appreciate that some might see this plug as bordering on shameless... please at least give me the benefit of the doubt for not individually spamming you in the DMs!  Angel

Hope to see you on the other side....

So one final pitch to you all before TVLF closes its doors.

While I understand that many of you would prefer to move to a new forum with strong links to an existing TV presentation related site, here's why I think you should at least give Box Babble a second look as the underdog in this particular fight...

Box Babble is built on modern forum software that is constantly updated, secure (even allows for two factor auth), and enables live interaction. You can see in real time who is replying to your threads and pages will update before your eyes as new posts are added.

Box Babble is so far the only place offering a fresh look and feel that lends itself to a community of design-conscious people. Unlike the competitors, we are not just picking a colour and applying it to the basic stock template that is shipped with myBB.

It offers a clean break. Starting a fresh and trying to build a community of likeminded pres fans.

No more need for a third-party upload site when posting screen caps - just paste them in and Box Babble will take care of it.

Wherever we all end up, I'll probably be there two - and whoever ends up being the successor forum to this place, good luck. Smile
