Off brand end boards

We’re all criticising the BBC for allowing all sorts of off brand end slides (I’ve had a brain fart and forgotten what they’re properly called - someone enlighten me), but are the BBC alone in this?

Anyone got any examples of other shockers - eg an itv logo which looks like it was drawn on Word Art by a 7 year old?

Are we talking endboards as in the end of a trailer with details of the programme, or the caption at the end of a programme with the copyright details? I've heard the latter referred to as an endcap or prodcap but there is every chance of that being a made up name by a pres site!

I've noticed on ITV programmes there seems to be a bit of inconsistency as to the weight of the font on both the credits and endcap, including, on some, a very chunky copyright message (displayed on the last screen of credits) in grey (!!) (not white) on some programmes (can't remember which it was but it was fairly recent).

For what it's worth, ITV seem to have very strict brand guidelines (I'm sure I read them a while ago but I think you need to log-in to see them now) and it seems to have worked, as I've not seen a mock logo on an endcap (or if I have, it was very good), so that inconsistency is fairly trivial compared to some things we've seen on the BBC.

Slightly off-topic I know but might as well ask while we're here, do networked programmes broadcast on STV have "for STV" on the endcap, or is it still "for ITV"?

The drifting of "styles" at the BBC usually occurs when a channel moves away from the corporate style of the last major rebrand to a new package of their own so there's no consistency to refer back to. As a result you get some horrible inconsistencies at times, which only ever gets patched up when the next major corporate rebrand occurs. And then sometimes I think whoever knocks those things up either don't have time to use the right template, finds the wrong one or just cobbles something together to get it done.

Re: STV - unless STV made it/commissioned something it will usually be "A Kermit and Miss Piggy production for ITV", though there may be variations on this.

Even if STV did make it, if it's a networked show the endboard will say "STV Productions for ITV".

Say the letter 'L' out loud. 'Ell'. It starts with a vowel sound so it's 'an' not 'a'.
