I’ve always enjoyed your posts, Joe, and it always warms my heart to see some of the old 2006/7 crowd still active on here, as that’s when I joined TVF and the community became part of my life.

Just a quick note to Rob to thank him enormously for picking up our community after the closure of TVF and giving it a home.

What you have done for the TV Pres community over the last 15 years, what with your hard work documenting and archiving so much pres with TV Live, your excellent podcasts and other projects, and now taking the stewardship of this forum, has been second to none. People like me who enjoy following the TV pres and production news and gossip, reading the insightful posts, and occasionally chipping in with a thought or two are ever so grateful for your hard work in making it all possible.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you Rob for everything, take care and hope that we might meet again online someday.

As we edge closer to the big day, I would once again like to thank Rob immensely for his friendship and hard work here. It’s been a privilege to be amongst the great members on these boards and we owe a lot to Rob for giving us this space to be our own.

Kinda feeling a bit sad today. But Rob knows that we are all behind him to wish him the best of health in the future and every success with his future endeavors.

But, as we edge towards close-down, one big question remains: who will look after the clooks from this point onwards? You clooks and my clooks and everybody’s clooks.

I'd already mentioned in what was the Box Forum thread here that I'd registered already, so I wasn't impressed either, and told them so. Turns out they sent that message to everyone who'd been active here in the last two months.

A bit late to this thread and the news that the forum is closing, but I would like to echo what many others have said. Thank you to Rob and everyone else that has helped run this site for the list 18 months or so. Also like others, I wasn't aware that anyone was getting such abuse or was having any issues, but obviously if that is the case, closing the site is 100% the right decision.

Rob, I wish you all the best for the future and hope things get better once the site closes. Thanks foreverything you have put into the site.

Just to say thank you Rob and your team of admins for running this forum. I’m sorry for the hassle you’ve experienced - such a shame that a bunch of tv geeks and pres anoraks (and I’m proudly wearing mine - are you too?) can’t chat about TV stuff with likeminded people.

I am not sure whether to bother with the new forums to be perfectly honest, but I shall see how it all pans out. I’ve added my twitter handle to my signature - I often post behind the scenes stuff which may interest some folk.

Glad to see people calling out Metropol - it really did push me to the brink in the dying days of the blue place and has never felt like a safe place for many members of the TVF/TVLF to discuss radio or off topic stuff as a result of the "watch" threads.    To be fair though it has cleaned up it's act a bit in the last few months.

You know I’ve been thinking about this post for a few days now and I think “cleaning up its act” is not the right concept. Certainly none of the mods have made any changes to how things are done, at least not deliberately. 

I think one of the things that really has changed is the atmosphere on this board was less toxic than in the dying days of TVF. 

I put a fair bit of that down to the rota ban as it both removed so many awful posters, but allowed space for people to actually see the sillier posts that would get more of a gentle ribbing. And it’s spotting simply daft comments where the watch thread was always at its best. 

Obviously rota chat was ended in the last few bits of tvf but I think the shedding of users that happened during the move helped clear things up significantly.  

I’d say that many years ago there could be a nastier undercurrent on metro. But certainly not in the past five years or so. But I suppose opinions form and stick don’t they. 

Anyhow we’re not going anywhere. I realised once we reach the end of next year metro will have been around for longer than TVF itself.

I honestly have no clue what’s going to happen next. I’m sad this place is going as it did operate as a good successor and I’m glad I was able to help Rob in the initial set up in particular. 

How many successors we up to now? Four?

Metropol is a bizarre place, that is for sure. At one time a while back I had an account on there but it was deleted.

From someone whose decisions and work has occasionally been noticed on this forum (and indeed TVF before), it's a real shame to see the forum go but as many others have put, a decision I absolutely respect and I wish Rob a restful few months ahead - and looking forward to see where TV Live goes from here.

And now, to pick which successor forum to bookmark...

TV Live Forum may have been a shortlived venture, but it surely was good while it lasted.

Now, unlike the time TV Forum closed down, I have no idea which of the new places should I join in. But when I do, I may register under a different username.

Anyway, I wish everyone here all the best, and especially thank you Rob for letting all to have continued opportunity to have a conversation beyond TV Forum's closure. It was an honour to have a chatter with you, and we will eventually meet again.
