The 'no Plan B' inquest all seems a little bit extreme, considering Kate doing the debate solo was basically a 'Plan B' because Harry Cole had pulled out less than 12 hours before the start time. How many back up presenters should they have around?!

Well, indeed, I don't understand why they think a "serious broadcaster" would have done anything differently. How many presenters do they think the Beeb had in Stoke on the off-chance Sophie Raworth collapsed on Monday night, or ITV had last week in case Julie Etchingham couldn't continue? They'd have had some reporters in the "spin room", yeah, but that's hardly a "Plan B", as I doubt any broadcaster has any concrete plans for the immedicate incapacitation of the presenter. It was about a thousand to one chance of it happening.

If anything, it would have looked a million times worse if they'd parachuted in another presenter anyway. Kate McCann had just collapsed, and it certainly seemed very frightening. I don't think many viewers would have taken in much else of the debate if there was a short pause and then Julia Hartley-Brewer just appeared out of nowhere and said "sorry for the interruption - so Liz Truss, the Northern Ireland protocol?". The show must go on? Not really, it was a horrible moment and everyone was very shaken up, and nobody seemed in the mood for it.  A "serious broadcaster" would have known that, too, rather than a bunch of macho tabloid hacks playing at running a TV station.

Great to see Kate presenting The News Desk tonight. Big fan of hers and she’s already addressed the elephant in the room (ie last night).

If I was addressing the schedule, I’d run TND from earlier (say 5pm onwards).

In terms of her presenting style I personally find she comes across as a little inexperienced in terms of delivery. A reporter, rather than a presenter, at the moment.

I daresay it's a good thing, then, that *whispers* hardly anyone watches TalkTV at the moment. Better to make any mistakes when you're starting out, in front of a small audience.

It could work well in a rolling format from 5-7pm then as a flagship bulletin at 9pm, with the talk shows at 7/8/10.  Fleshes out the TV element to 6 hours.

Not a great idea if the loyal listeners of the station formerly known as talkRADIO have to listen to it. 

I’m gutted to see TV Live Forum is finishing, but not gutted to predict Rupert Murdoch will pull the plug on this channel between Xmas and the end of March 2023. I hope we all have somewhere to discuss it!

I will admit, I never in a million years thought either GB News or TalkTV would outlive this forum! But c'est la vie, I suppose...

That presumably makes it even less profitable though when you start having two separate services for three hours a day. 

I think it’s also probably the case that some of the few viewers TalkTV does have probably came from TalkRadio - if you separate them back out and they go back to listening instead of watching, there really will be nobody left to watch TalkTV!

The whole thing is a right old mess, I can see the whole project being dumped by the end of the year, with the TalkTV talent distributed back across the Murdoch-sphere in one way or another.
