Farewell...

It’s really awful to hear what you’ve had to put up with, Rob. But also it’s good to see so many positive messages of support.

Having been in slightly similar situation, I know how such behaviour from others can become all-consuming and how you can lose perspective of the fact that so many people – the vast, overwhelming, 99.9% majority – really appreciate what you do and are on your side. So I hope this thread underlines that there’s a lot more good out there than bad.

But you’re completely making the right decision. If something is making you miserable, and no-one’s forcing you to do it, it’s definitely time to quit.

I’d also like to thank you for the hard work you’ve clearly put into this forum, and for setting it up in the first place, and to wish you every happiness in your future ventures.

I hope your enthusiasm for this particular interest doesn't dampen, and that your outlook returns to something more positive Rob.

So sorry to hear about your mental health Rob and I really am appalled at the abuse you've been receiving online. The mindset of some is truly baffling. You're definitely making the right decision and I hope this weight off your shoulders will help to feel better soon.

You've been a real asset to this online community, both on TVF and of course here. It may not have felt like it at times but you really have done a superb job at setting this place up and keeping it going. I'm really grateful that you took up the challenge when TVF closed. I can appreciate this must have taken a lot of personal time both in the set up and ongoing running of the place so thank you for doing that. This place really did manage to keep the spirit of TVF alive and it has felt like a natural continuation of the forum and topics we all loved.

Thanks to all the other mods for keeping everything in check too, you've done a great job.

Fingers crossed someone else will take up the mantra, but it's a hard job and somehow this feels like it might be the end. This and TVF really did keep me going through Covid and the endless lockdowns and it's still a place I visit several times a day. I hope to chat with you all again soon somewhere else.

Rob, thanks for being a very professional, fair and diligent site owner. I've appreciated having this outlet for some really interesting discussion - a lot has happened in the world of TV pres and programming since we started here!

That said, I completely respect your decision.

I look forward to continuing to read your contributions on your websites (and perhaps on other forums) in the future.

Totally agree. It's easy to say "ignore them" but trolls and bullies are often very persistent, manipulative, nasty individuals. They infect so many internet platforms these days.

Stepping away and leaving them behind is often the right thing to do. Life's too short.

Rob can walk away with his head held high.

Bit late to the 'party', but just want to echo the replies I've already scanned through.

Your commitment has been appreciated, and you've done so well to follow in the footsteps of the 'Blue Place'.

And totally get the mental health thing. As someone who probably should be tackling my own issues more than I am, I totally get it. Mental health I think is even now still overlooked and misunderstood in this big world we live in. The ones who dismiss people as 'snowflakes' and such like, are a big part of the problem.

Anyway, I wish you the very best Rob, and good luck with your existing ventures.

While I will miss this place, health should be prioritised above all else. It is deeply shocking that you have been getting abuse on a TV presentation forum. I do hope your mental health improves. I may be new-ish to TV pres as a whole but your efforts to continue the legacy is commendable. Thank you and I hope to hear that you've been feeling better.

Echoing what everyone else has already said. Only an occasional poster here but Rob's health comes first no matter what, and I absolutely respect his decision.

This forum was a more than worthy successor to TV Forum and it's sad to see it go, but more sad given the circumstances.

I wish you all the best Rob, take time to yourself, enjoy life and try and be as happy as you can. Cutting this place out of your life will do wonders for your mental health, I'm sure. Thank you for everything you've done.

I bet they're celebrating Partygate style now...
I hope they're happy as Larry now that we lost TVLF, selfish pricks...

Just for clarification, this Larry isn't happy at all. He's quite sad about all this.

Yes, this is the case I believe, same setup as Metropol I think.

On that note, just to be fair to Rob, obviously I was the victim of a case of mistaken identity a few weeks ago.  The situation was quickly dealt with and Rob made a public apology/clarification which he didn't need to do.  So thanks for that.

Yes please - media yarn will give another place to go to at least bring some sort of continuation to this at a smaller scale with people being nice as well
Such shocking news; I'm certainly gonna miss the TV-based discussion here. Question is, where will we be able to post our mocks in the future, and where will we go to have similar discussions regarding TV Pres?
Everyone's favourite BBC fanatic-of-sorts, making columns blow up since April 2020
Also if something is making you Ill then your health always wins other than the media yarn and digital spy, what other similar forums are there any clues
Sorry to hear this, I was gutted to hear TVF was closing down after all those years but within days you had presented an offer to continue the legacy and have done so pretty seamlessly imo. Thank you for your service and all the best for the future (and pay no attention to online nobodies with so much negativity within!)
Aw, not again...

In all seriousness it's sad to see the forum go. It's even sadder to see Rob being relentlessly bullied. Good luck on your future endeavors.
Wonderfully weird.

As others have said I really hope that this little community will go on in one form or another, it's been short and sweet, and one final thing, I really have to once again commend Rob for this decision, because you have the courage to step back once it becomes too unbearable, this is a great lesson that you have teached me and all of us, I will support in everything that you do, like your amazing radio show of course! I really wish I could shake your hand right now and thank you very much for everything!

Can we have more info please when suitable thanks
