Farewell...

It's incredibly sad that some people have so little going off in thier lives that they have to obsess over and abuse people into having mental breakdowns, but I can understand why Rob's doing it, as it happened to me too. People who decide that someone having different opinions on an internet forum is an open invitation to dox and dig into people's private lives, it's terrible.

Very sad about this.

It did seem that the constant battles of abuse that TV Forum saw in its latter years that Asa had to try his best to control had unfortunately found itself here as well. It's a shame that the actions of a handful of members make it such an unpleasant place for people to contribute to, not for the want of trying with the hard work Rob and the mods did over the past year and a bit.

If more people understood everyone is here with the same fascination for television, it would make it a more pleasant place and no one should tolerate unwarranted rudeness or abuse. No one gets paid to run these sites and is done just as a hobby. There shouldn't be a need of constant patrolling which seemingly is what's required.

Thanks to Rob, your hard work made the split from TV Forum more bearable and I've enjoyed the short time we've all had on this forum.

Im so sorry to hear this Rob, Thank you so much for the community you have continued to build.

Hopefully someone takes up the challenge of continuing it again, minus those who have caused you so much grief.

Honestly sucks to see ANOTHER TV pres forum go down the toilet because some people just are vile human beings. Not everyone, I get that, but it just sucks to see someone's mental health deteriorate when no one should suffer like that. I'm hoping the next TV pres forum we move to hopefully keeps the baton running to still let us talk about TV pres and new channel launches or whatever without the indecent abuse to the admin running the thing.

To Rob, thank you for hosting this site for how long you possibly could. I'm wishing you the best in your future endeavours.

I'll definitely be keeping the flame nice and hot for everyone - gotta tweak some things on my end with TMY, but I hope to be as accommodating as this place! Smile

As much as it's sad to see TV Live Forum go. We will always remember the good times, the bad time, the sad times, the funny times and of course the time we talked about TV. To Rob, you should be proud with what you have achieved with this forum. You carried on the torch from Asa and TV Forum and continued something amazing, and once you created something amazing, you achieved what you wanted to achieve. Thank you Rob for hosting this amazing place where people can talk about TV and feel at home. And to the people who have posted or have just visited the site, I have enjoyed being with you all, reading all your amazing posts, looking at the amazing creations and most importantly, made some amazing friends. Thank you all so much.

And now, here's a somewhat fitting song.

Thank you.

Really sorry it has come to this Rob but I totally understand the situation you are going through. Can't believe though all our journeys here is coming to a sudden end.

Enjoyed the time here as much as did on TV Forum and hopefully we as members can find a another common forum for us to migrate to. It would be a shame to not be to find something as a great community as this.

I am so very, very sad.

Used to read TVForum for years but never quite had the courage to join, as I'm just an enthusiast and felt too much of a layman.

When it closed and this forum started I took the plunge. I'm not a prolific poster but I have joined in when I felt I had something to add, and I've thoroughly enjoyed the discussions here.

I have a long background of running forums myself and have a small forum of my own (not TV related) that's been running 20 years this year. I can absolutely identify with what Rob's gone through because it used to happen to me as well when my forum was busier than it is now. Today I prefer it quieter and I do not promote it. This is why!

Rob I'm so sorry you've suffered this in return for providing a free of charge home for everyone, but sadly I am not surprised.

The vast majority of people on here are extremely nice and are very grateful, but it only takes a small number to ruin it, which is what they've done.

I won't ask you to reconsider because there is no way your health should be put at risk for something like this. I will only say how angry and disappointed I am that people behave like this, and I think it diminishes us all a little bit when this sort of thing goes on.

Again I'm so very so sorry, you did an absolutely fantastic job here and created a community to be proud of.

Yours, with great sadness,
Mark

I've lurked here since day one, only registering recently (and lurked on "the blue place" for many years) - I've never posted before because, whilst I always enjoyed reading the thoughts and comments of the users, I never felt that I would add anything new to the discussions. However, I've loved every minute I've spent reading the pages and sharing what I've learned (my wife keeps suggesting I should go onto Mastermind with 'behind the scenes of TV' as my specialist subject).

However, this news has brought me out of hiding to say the following:

1 - a huge THANK YOU to Rob and the moderators for giving so much of you time willingly to create and maintain this space.

2- another big THANK YOU to every single person who has posted and given me something to read. I've really enjoyed it.

2 - a big YOU BLEEPS to the abusers; that sort of carry-on wouldn't be tolerated in person so why on earth do you think it's okay behind a keyboard? Take a long hard look at yourselves in the mirror and ask yourself 'am I proud of what I've achieved here?'.

My internet browsing time is about to get a lot shorter - there just isn't a space like this anywhere else that has enabled my to indulge my interests in all aspects of presentation, from behind the scenes titbits to some true works of genius in the Gallery. I'll miss it massively.

Thanks for the memories.

You're health is the priority, Rob. Well done for all you have achieved with this site - it was short, but sweet. Thanks for adopting us from the blue place.  Big Grin

Best wishes.

This bit of Rob's post makes absolutely horrific reading. Sad

That people can do this to someone who is just trying to provide a facility for people for free.

I'm very angry that this has been going on, very angry indeed.

I'm really sorry to hear this, Rob, and I hope you find yourself in a much happier place going forward. I was only ever really a lurker here and at the blue place, but I always enjoyed reading the fantastically geeky discussions, and especially the fascinating insights from behind-the-scenes that you wouldn't find on any other website. I'm sorry you felt you had no other option but to close the forum, and I hope your other sites go from strength to strength. All the best for the future!

This probably isn't the best time to ask, so feel free to ignore me/tell me to shush, but I honestly had no idea Rob was receiving all this abuse. Is someone able to briefly explain (either here or in a DM) what caused Rob to find himself in this position? I've been here since Day 1 and have never seen any incident that could possibly justify what's happened.

I'd rather not discuss it if you don't mind Larry, thank you.

Thanks for keeping the site going. And also its sad that certain people are so vitriolic that they can adversely affect the mental health others causing them to seek help and drive them away from their passion. Its really sad and I certainly understand what it feels like to be ganged up on. I stopped posting as much and taking part in many discussions for that reason. For those people who choose to be evil, im happy they no longer have a place to harm others with their words. Take care Rob and be happy.
