I mean that’s not an entirely fair comparison given the sunlight streaming into the newsroom today which will inevitably make it appear less bright.

Funniest thing for me is how out of place the old box now looks, what we get used to changes quickly.

Indeed. Even the box that was replaced just 11 weeks ago appeared by accident on screen the other week and even that looked odd.

[If you didn't get the sarcasm, his name aston shows "BBC Correspondent", which makes no sense to put in an aston on the BBC News Channel lol. Such a thing would make sense for when they use CBS Correspondents for US stories, since obviously those correspondents are not working for the BBC directly, so the association needs to be made clear, but for someone who obviously works for the BBC is probably an error and they should've written News or Wales instead]

Sky News uses the term "Sky Correspondent" regularly.

The broken ‘hoop’ also appeared on the BBC One bulletin as well, so it’s had a mainstream outing!

I know it won’t be the easiest job, but surely they can move the desks under it, maybe relocate the staff into a meeting room, over a quiet weekend, and get some scaffolding up to fix it?

That's quite a complex and lengthy job in any environment, as proved when they previously replaced some of the lights in the newsroom.

The 'hoop' is bust, and it's not just a case of "giving it a kick", or "turning it off and on again" after 10 years. It's served its purpose.

Very sporadic both yesterday and today. There was one used at 7pm, not at 8pm.

I’ve seen the Ukraine countdown twice yesterday but you’re right about the use of the filler. 

Possibly updating with all the comings and goings? They’ve got to fish out all the old logo too, so mot sure we’ll see anything new until the rebrand next year.

The end of the countdown looks inconsistent now anyway with the new logo in the red box but the old logo just above the entrance to New Broadcasting House.

There's a similar issue to the opening shot of Breakfast now too. I hazard a guess these issues will be dealt with in the next year.

An Aston error on the BBC News At One today. Apparently Matt Taylor is called Dr Mariah Zachariah

Not as bad as the error they had yesterday when the picture of a footballer involved in a big transfer was on the screen behind the sports news presenter while they read a different story about very serious criminal allegations about an unnamed player. It was taken down in seconds but did mean an apology had to be given at the start of the next sports bulletin.

One of those horrible mistakes that sometimes happens and leaves you feeling mortified for whoever made the error.

Shaun Ley saying that BBC News took the decision not to broadcast outside from certain locations today, including College Green and to be inside because of the extreme heat. Jo Black was saying about equipment failing and having to put kit in a freezer.

Always good to have Shaun on air on days like this as he always gives us a bit of behind the scenes info.

I really rate Shaun. He's perfectly relaxed and natural despite handling a number of breaking news stories, updates and interviews all in quick succession. Professional without being too formal or stuffy.
