I’d close down the news channel it looks like a cheap man’s bbc world news relying on simulcasts to prop it up, this needs to go and close down all the bbc world service tv channels all needs to go…

I honestly expect them to just join the presenters who present same/similar shifts on both channels, but based on World which has a more clear/stable schedule. With double headed presentation they could easily move the ''domestic'' presenter to other studio if there's a need for some special coverage for UK viewers.

Given the purpose of the merger is cost-cutting, I very much doubt that we'll be seeing the return of double-headed presentation.

Because in this case "why not both" isn't going to work is it? as said time and again both serve different audiences.

I don't know why they won't adopt the overnight format sooner, the running order is already readily available across all studios A to E. We've all seen the overnight bulletins being aired in decamped studios before...

I wasn't particularly talking about the format, but rather the content - though I do agree that opt points do need to be sorted for a merged channel. BBC World News opting mid-sentence just looks ridiculously unprofessional.

I don't think the details will officially be released later today, maybe in a few days or so. But if I am to speculate, I would rule out a hard date or even a range of dates for when the single channel is aired. The changes are instead likely to be staggered and subtle so that those outside this forum will not get ruffled. An advantage of that is it buys the BBC time to clean up and figure out how to strengthen the project internally whilst implementing the necessary changes that can be smoothly implemented. As it seems like the priority for domestic services is to put digital technology at the forefront of the BBC's offerings, I'd bet that the end goal is much of the UK news content will migrate to digital-only platforms.

The Times have run a piece that doesn't make for great reading at all. Sounds utterly vile trying to imagine it.
I wonder if Deborah Turness knew what she was signing up to before taking the role? Fears of further job cuts If anyone can't read it, I'm happy to chop it in. |
