If it’s true, it shows how far Channel 5 has come to even be in the market for the show. Indeed if it is true, you wonder if they were the only bidder, as ITV didn’t want it and I can’t think of anyone else apart from maybe Netflix (if they wanted to do some live content) who would

Next time I don’t watch Garden Rescue, it’s good to know that I’m boycotting it rather than I just don’t fancy watching it.

Press statements can be taken with a pinch of salt but they will sometimes be given a bye for understandable but silly reasons.

I just don't see how it benefits C5 when their model of the last couple of years seems to be working for them, both in terms of revenue and ratings, and they had somewhat got past the point of being considered the channel where other formats go to die. And it's that reputation which makes this an even harder relaunch for The X Factor than the uphill battle it would already have been on ITV.
However a tighter budget all round might not actually be the worst thing for the show, especially when it comes to the judges. Sinitta may finally get her chance.

Will be interesting to see if Cowell goes on screen.
It will get totally squashed though if it goes out during Strictly season and if it prompts ITV to find an actual viable Saturday night format.
If Xfactor is to return I’m not surprised channel 5 have picked it up, there will be fans of the show who will flock to it on C5 which will bring different viewers to the channel, it’s not my thing, but as said before it’s like big brother, X factor will have a few series then will get dropped when it becomes out of favour, be interesting to see who they have to host the show too. Ad this could be ideal to bring Kate Thornton back as she was good at it, back in the day

I can’t see it doing well on Channel Five. It doesn’t seem like many people are excited for it to come back and Channel Five’s core viewership don’t strike me as wanting the X factor back unless the show has more of an older feel in terms of judges and sings performed than some seasons on ITV did.
I don't know. If they get the format right, the show might just work in Channel 5's favour. At the end of the day, it all depends on who will be a best fit to be presenter of the show. If the presenter can gel with the format well, then it will work, but it also depends on whom the judges are as well.

I completely disagree about the importance of the presenter. It’s not like Britain’s Got Talent where Ant and Dec watch from the wings, commenting on and interacting with auditions etc. They need someone competent and likeable, yes, but I think getting the judges right is way more important when it comes to the X Factor. The switch to Caroline Flack/Olly Murs as hosts didn’t really affect the show as much as a dud panel (hello Robbie Williams +1!) did. Equally, bringing Dermot O’Leary in to replace Kate Thornton wasn’t a catalyst to the show growing in popularity - arguably that was the arrival of the “classic” panel of judges: Simon, Dannii, Cheryl & Louis.
I've been wrong plenty of times before but I really do think the chances of this story being true are close to zero.

I can't wait for the new drama "The X Factor" as they said they don't want these types of shows on channel 5 (i think)

The best they have come up with is The Chase/Beat The Chasers and I can see more people being interested in watching TXF, and it at least feels like Saturday night TV rather than something which is on 6 days out of 7 (take note BBC).
