CBS branding to be dropped from UK channels.

On Satellite I notice they have left the old Horror+1 channel attached to the new horrorxtra so that now a part time channel has a +1

You would have thought they would either cease it or attach it to one of the 24 hr channels

As others have suggested disconnecting the CBS brand from them does feel like they're priming them for a sale, but I'd have thought if that was the case Drama and Justice would appeal more to buyers than Reality Xtra and Horror Xtra.

Not sure UKTV would be too happy about one of those!

Just seen a Horror branded credit squeeze accidentally played out on Legend.

Yeah, they couldn't call CBS Drama just Drama because a channel with that name already exists.

This really wasn't thought out at all though. HorrorXtra shouldn't exist, as Horror Channel is gone. It should either just be Horror or it should be LegendXtra. RealityXtra likewise makes no sense if the main channel is still CBS Reality.

AMC have really botched this one up. One channel keeps the CBS branding for now, while one rebranded as Legend which to be fair is a more appropriate name for the programming Horror scheduled, but the branding of RealityXtra and HorrorXtra just leaves me scratching my head.

I thought GREAT! was a poor name for a group of low budget FTA channels, but AMC have excelled in the rebranding stakes.

There is certainly value too in a collective brand name for the smaller channels, and even in the UK there is enough brand recognition of CBS for it to add something.

Notice now on Freeview Play that Horror Bites has been rebranded as Legend.

For much the same reason any other commercial channel exists - take some ad revenue.

I think the point is why is it called that? The name doesn't make sense and should've either just been Horror, or LegendXtra.

probably, it was planned before they decided to rebrand horror/justice as legend, and rebrands can be expensive nowadays, so they are probably just doing this to save money in the meantime

This rebrand wasn't that expensive, as they simply recoloured and rebadged the old idents.
