Launch TalkTV
Just a random observation....
I love the OTT use of the helicopters. Its dramatic and at the same time so unnecessary. I love it. Its fantastic. Just showing exterior shots of the HP and No 10. Seems like an expensive exercise. If it were me Id have some strategically placed beauty cams located say on the top of St Thomas Hospital. Seems the cheapest option. Or atop the Shard or Westminster Tower near the Tower. Slowly panning the skyline down toward the HP. But if TalkTv or SkyNews wants to spend the money on just having a expensive chopper showing nothing. Hey more power to them. (Joke...were they expecting an OJ-style car chase with Priti Patel driving and saying to the police on the phone: "Ive got Boris in the car!". Whilst Boris is heard screaming in the background...."Take me to Chequers!")

Looks like Piers is taking a short break as they went straight to Tom Newton Dunn in Westminster after the break.

Also I've noticed they've started using TalkTV logos on the set, which is weird if they're still airing the programme in other markets.

Unsure how it worked on previous evenings when they’ve extended the show (I guess it only effects Australia? As they’ll just chuck the whole thing up on the Fox streaming service)

But today they’ve ended the coverage at 7:55 and are running an hour long Uncensored like normal. There’s a News Desk special at 9pm.
Anne Robinson back on with Piers tonight. After her fantastic performance last time, this will be a must watch!

Surely Ms Robinson can't be that far off getting her own show now where she can do her Countdown style chats and poking fun at the guests she's interviewing.
"From today you'll hear some new voices when you're watching UTV, as for the time being we're handing over to our colleagues at ITV, but rest assured Julian and I will be back with you as soon as possible"

At 1 Emily rose adams attempted to do the news summary from Downing Street but was drowned out both by the news of others and the talk tv news backing track that seemed louder than normal
Tom Newton-Dunn presenting at the moment from Piers’ set with News Desk branding. Looks great. Talk TV in rolling news mode tonight has been infinitely better than usual. I’d go with this format between 6 and 10 every night.
Agree, it’s been very watchable. The 3 of them have made a good team covering everything since 4pm alongside the contributors.

Would you need a second set for this to be a regular set up? Or could you have Tom do 6-8 and Piers 8-10 and swapping around in an ad break?
The News Desk in Ealing, very swish. Should be like this permanently.
For me, tonight has proved why Murdoch should not dump TalkTV, this has showed that it really does still have potential.

The James Whale Show failing to start.

Black screen, TalkTV ident, and another black screen.

You sure about that? Look at TalkTV now  Big Grin
Wasn't it supposed to be "The Talk" that they were meant to air, rather than James Whale's show?
James Whale is in the studio tonight. Usually he presents Thursday and Friday from home.

What exactly is the point of having a helicopter out for the programme, what exactly is it going to add? It's an obsession that Sky and to a lesser extent the BBC got rid of a long while ago. I remember the days after the 2010 election they had them up constantly over Westminster and their noise ruined the audio of everything happening in the ground,

As you imply they’re just a nuisance. We were next door in Horse Guards attending a charity performance of marching bands and choral music. The helicopters, of which I counted 4 at one point, were just interfering with the audience’s pleasure of the event.

Is that because he’s going through till 1am? No Piers repeat?

Is this the first time The Talk hasn’t aired? Usually at 10pm if displaced by a bumper Piers?
But it basically seems like they haven’t bothered firing up the Baby Shard TV studios tonight.
